There is no more room in the Austin ghetto for anymore UT students.

But Tech and A&M can continue to grow and expand. UTA is landlocked in that liberal shithole of a city, surrounded by homeless people and trash. Leaving campus is a dangerous proposition for students.

So Tech and A&M are doubling down on the University of Phoenix model? Cool, at least they know their lane. I'm sure if they keep lowering their admission standards they'll get there. And to be fair, staying on A&M campus is a lot more dangerous for students. Like over 2x more crime per student.

I also suspect students are willing to deal with all the trash as part of being in a major city when you can do things like visit a Lamborghini dealership (or NIL from them for your favorite football player).

A&M has more students and our graduates make on average more than sip graduates

What is sip doing wrong?

Where do you want to start (other than you obviously don't know how secondary research works)? "more students" is not a goal of many universities. Many are trying to do things like "how do I have the highest completion rate?" (4 year for UTA is 73% vs 62% A&M) or "how do I get the best quality students?" (UTA top 10% 77% vs 56% A&M; test scores etc follow the same pattern) or "how do I bring diversity to our student population to reflect the state we serve?" (UTA 37% white enrolled vs 58% at A&M; Texas is 41% white) And in fact, those are example of what Texas Higher Education publishes as KPI's, not "how much graduates make on average"

That said, that is also tracked. Unfortunately, you can't get a generic "A&M" degree and a "UTA" degree - you pick majors. And when you look at it by major (i.e. apples to apples), the US Department of Education publishes data that doesn't support what you said. Lets look at a few:

Business Administration, Management and Operations (Master's Degree): UTA $127k vs A&M $110k

Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree): UTA $70k vs A&M $72k

Computer and Information Sciences (Bachelor’s Degree): UTA $76k vs A&M $71k

Marketing (Bachelor’s Degree): UT $50k vs A&M $47k

Anthropology (Bachelor’s Degree): UTA $26k vs A&M $20k

These don't seem super material to me, OR skew towards UTA just glancing at the list. Obviously the overall mix of UG major degree awards are different, as you'd expect from an A&M school vs the flagship of a state system in the capital.

A&M Salaries - Summary Dept Education

UTA Salaries Summary Dept Education

Also - I'll point out more A&M grads graduate with debt, and with higher average amounts of debt.

Actual facts from Texas Public Higher Education 2021 Almanac

Sooo... you were saying? Maybe you should compare with TX Tech more since someone suggested they are also on the University of Phoenix path.

Here is a hint. Nobody is going to read a novel. Brief and to the point …

Carry on, loser

For those outside of Texas, get used to this. Texas fans live in a world of half truths, and they never tell the full story...

For the rest of the story...

It is state law in Texas that if you finish in the top 10% of your class, you are automatically accepted to ANY state school you apply to. Because the UTA is landlocked in Austin, they have been able to get an exception and reduce their automatic acceptance to top 7%.

As a result, yes they get to be "more selective" but also as a result, every other state university in the state still have to take the kids that finished in the top 10%.

The state has dragged its feet on promoting a 3rd university in the state to top tier, as a result A&M has had no choice but to grow and grow at a ridiculous rate being the only other school in the state that is of the same stature as Texas.

But it gets worse because the population of the state has grown in a ridiculously fast rate so Tech, Houston and many other schools in the state have seen trememdous growth as well.

The University of Texas has done a better job of improving their system schools than A&M has, but even so it pales compared to the way California has done their two state school systems. As much as I hate Cali and only lasted 10 months out there before I had to move out before murdering people, I give them kudos for how they have done the University of California and Cal State systems.

Two things need to happen in the state. The state government needs to make A&M and Texas really improve their system schools and promote a 3rd school and maybe a 4th school. I think that would go a long way to improving the situation in the state.

Thats cool - reading is hard for some, basic research also in a world with google.

TLDR: Short version is no one cares about large enrollment unless you're competing with University of Phoenix. The other shite is all easily proven fake news.

LOL - tell us more about that?

LOL - you guys act as if this isn't publicly available info, and appear to have a very loose grasp on causality.

Tell us if any of the 2022 student characteristic trends I summarized look different between UT Austin and A&M back in 2011 - before what you're claiming caused the differential in student selectiveness:

Lordy.....just so you know....it's, "b-o-r-d-e-r", as in the border between the U.S. and Mexico, which ain't workin', not "boarder", as one who skims along the waves in the ocean.

U.S. education is another thing gone to pot these days.
