4 titles and 18 appearances.

Beat us to win their first in 1979.

Just flip 2 and 3 around and I’ll say I agree with that. Modern Texas baseball has been weak as well

Wouldn't say weak, might not be up to Texas Standards, but in the last 20 years, Texas has

9 CWS Appearances (9 Top 7 Finishes)
2 National Championships
2 Runner-up CWS finishes
3 3rd Places CWS finishes

The incredible stat for Texas, 38 CWS appearances out of 75 Series, Texas has been to the CWS > 50% of the time

Kind of surprised Cal State Fullerton wasn't in the top 5.

USCw won the large majority of its championships back when college baseball had maybe 5-6 good teams, 10 at the absolute most. Their stadium sits a whopping 2,500 & their last N.C. was in 1978. They are not relevant to any list of greatest teams anymore. The last time they crossed LSU's path in Omaha, their coach ranted about unfair it was that all the locals supported LSU. And they did not even have their own radio network, piggy backing onto a national feed.

So essentially the Yale of college baseball

2 in the 1980's

In terms of modern times ...

4 for Miami (1982 - 2001)
4 for Arizona (1976 - 2012)
3 for Oregon State (2006 - 2018)
2 for South Carolina (2010 and 2011)
2 for Vanderbilt (2014 and 2019)

If you look at trends, the PCC / PAC was the conference before ESPN and the SEC is the conference of today.

College baseball is much tougher for private schools.

Yet Vanderbilt and UVA have been recent winners. While UVA and Michigan are technically public schools they look and operate like private ones.

Historically Texas has been to the tournament WAY more than LSU, with the same number of national championships.

I hate Texas as much as the next person, but are you basing it entirely on recent success?

It's an "All-Time" list, not a "Recent History" list.

Looks about right. USC is like Norte dame though, eventually they have to ducking do something or they have to start falling off
Notre Dame football in the past 23 years blows USC baseball out of the water. At least ND has been to the playoffs and other big bowl games.

USC has only made the field of 64 five times since 2000. They have mysteriously completely disappeared

Since the beginning of the 2018 season, Texas has been to Omaha 3 times in the last 5 full seasons.

To compare, the other team has been 0 times in that time span

And USC was coached for decades by Cajun Ron Dedeaux :)

USC is like UCLA in basketball: worthy of being considered one of the greats in the overall scene, but mostly due to dominance in the 60s and 70s.

Whereas Texas baseball is like Duke basketball: should they have more titles than they currently do? Probably. But at least they're in the mix just about every year.

Like another poster said earlier: them becoming dormant is quite a mystery. You'd think they'd have all the advantages, but kids these days would rather play college ball at UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, ASU or Fullerton (however they've been terrible recently)

USC could start making it's way back.

Their new coach Stankiewicz was awesome building Grand Canyon's program up, and he's awesome as a person... very relatable recruiter. Couple of my son's friends will play for him in the '23 and '24 cycles.

They have to upgrade their facilities, and make a destination that compels fans to give up their SoCal weekends to attend.
The money is there... only question is whether the administration will get out of it's own way and let the guy do his thing.
Will be interesting to watch USC & UCLA play some cold Midwest baseball in the Big10 soon lol.
