LSU hasn't had a Heisman winner since Billy Cannon in the 50s.

Indeed, it has been a struggle. Jumping out of the ACC in '71 hurt the program for 20 years (hard to win a conference title when you're not in a conference), but now it appears that we're on better ground than we would have been had we stayed in the ACC. I do think that, with the current coaching staff and the emphasis (or lack thereof) in recruiting, we've probably hit our ceiling for the moment. That ceiling can be raised with some better hires on the defensive side of the ball, and a renewed commitment to recruiting defensive talent.

I do think that the infrastructure required to be successful in the SEC has finally been laid after years of neglect from Woods, Scott, et al., and I do trust AD Tanner to make wise decisions in hiring a coach once Spurrier retires in the next few years.

If USC is going to beat Arky this weekend, Davis and Shaw will have to be superstars. The USC defense is shite, and I don't have any faith in their ability to put a team away. USC can score some points, but their linebackers are small, young, and a liability. Arky will get theirs. Just don't know who will score more to win.
