Why is it taboo on this forum -- and in public generally -- to talk about race? More than half of Notre Dame's starters were white. They had three white defensive backs for Christ sake. When I saw that, I knew it was Bama vs Michigan redux. That's the difference.

It shouldn't be. The only way to move past racism is to acknowledge that there are differences between races.

I agree with your point about there being more blacks in the South, but it amazes me when I watch the NFL. There are some teams in the NFL that look like Boise State. The league has gotten "whiter" over the last 10 years.

Can this be a discussion based on factual data, rather than mythology?

I coach middle school football, and I can tell you that just in the past 10 years, the size and athletic ability of the kids I see now is ridiculous.

I don't know the reason for the size and speed, but athleticism can be largely traced to multi-sport athletes/AAU ball, and the fact that most kids have access to individual sports training paid for by parents grooming them for high school and college.

Examples...

**My smallest lineman on my 10-11 year old team was 190 lbs.

**I had a strong-side linebacker from Florida that was 6 foot tall and 165 lbs.

SEC / South is closer proximity to Mexico which means roids are more readily available and easily obtainable than up North.

1.Teams in the south are more committed to football from high school to the college level. That means better training to produce better athletes.

2. The south produces better D-Lineman and skill position players.

3. The South, especially the SEC, uses more resources to produce and develop better players once in college.

4. The population movement of the United States has more people moving to the South producing a larger sample size of athletes.
