Because I wanted too and I like LSU.

Dogging it so much… what do you really know about it? Ever been there or talked with the people, eaten the food?

Just spewing crap when you know nothing… who is the one really reducing themselves peaches?

I lived in Georgia (Atlanta) for 13 years. I covered the entire state for a sales job. You have nice topography and decent weather, a lot of people move there for work BUT it was the most boring place I have ever lived. No culture, nothing that makes it unique or a place you actually want to go to. Soul-less is the word that most comes to mind, just people, strangers, going through the motions of the daily grind. Your neighbors have no desire to even make eye contact much less form friendships. Couldn’t wait to leave that place 10 years ago and have actually never been back. When I got back to Louisiana and the friendliness, the culture of extended family and friendships, the celebratory culture, it was an immediate uplift. We may have a lot of issues but living life here is so much better for so many reasons.

I didn't read the rest of the thread. All I saw is the header "The State of Louisiana" and the first thing that came to mind was how ugly the geography is north, south, east and west. Having lived there and owned several businesses spread across all four corners of the state there for several decades I feel my perspective on the state is pretty honest. Aesthetically Louisiana is the ugliest state in North America. There are some beautiful farm lands mid-state north of Marksville moving diagonally northwest and some beautiful lakes and waterways in the southwest and northcentral part of the state but the rest of Louisiana is a charmless eye sore. Everything from Baton Rouge south is ugly scruffy brackish swamp. Virtually everything in south & mid-west Louisiana is flat and featureless - the rest of the state is just plain unattractive flat land - featureless and spectacularly boring. There are no mountains in Louisiana, no waterfalls, no scenic vertical panoramas or magic vistas or anything else ultra-pleasing to the senses. There are a few miles of beaches, a couple of nice lakes, and swamps - lots of swamps. Other than that really there is nothing else but a little prairie land west of Shreveport. Louisiana is a shockingly ugly state. It is losing population at the highest per capita rate in the US. 100,000 people fled fled Louisiana in 2020 and 2021. The numbers aren't in for 2022 & 2023 because of high a influx of illegal immigration. Keep in mind the huge population decline in Louisiana is despite the significant influx of illegal immigrants. The economy is a complete wreck. There is no industry, no tech sector, no health care hub, nor any other future major economic reason to live in or move to Louisiana other than a natural gas liquification plant in Port Sulphur, Louisiana - another particularly ugly & remote place.

The best metaphor for Louisiana is Angola - both the African nation and the prison.

Louisiana is a dead state.

As if from Mobile to Birmingham is such a nice drive. The whole south of Alabama is a wasteland beside the beaches and then you have inbred hillbillies on Sand Mt. The west side from Mobile to Muscle Shoales is just Mississippi. The East side sucks also from Dothan to Talladega. Pot meet kettle,

Louisiana is definitely a shite state but the beauty of SEC football is that everyone knows what that's like. Youre from Georgia my dude. A far cry from what anyone would consider a dream destination. Moving on to sports tho, I've seen LSU frick yall outta championships and I've lived to see 3 natties. Only the oldest amongst your alums can say that. Do I really give a shite about women's basketball? Na. Am I happy none of yall won it? Absolutely.

So why has the population of Georgia exploded over the last 20 years? Believe me, I wish the growth would slow but it does help my real estate values.

Why all the fortune 500 companies moving HQ's here?
