February is not too bad. You figure out the best teams and begin to follow them.

And if your team is a bubble team you keep attention on the games during this time.

I was under the impression that like football, almost all college basketball games had been at least on ESPN3 or something, and when not available through ESPN, had been aired on more local channels (be it a regional or local network).

Since the new contract was signed in/around 09, all of the CONFERENCE games have been on espn3... Only marquee nonconference could generally be watched in that manner.

I watched us scrimmage Delta St on ESPN3(Secnetwork+) in HD the other day. MSU airs every home sporting event on secN+ in HD now. It is my understanding that some schools are still having to get their fiber network up to snuff before they can do the same, but that it should be done across the conference before next season...

Last year, I might have caught 5 AU basketball games on tv max. Had to listen to it via radio.

Many were on ESPN3.

Why are people even talking about basketball during football season?

I can understand this sentiment from folks without a basketball team that is worth watching. The thing that I enjoy about December basketball is that there are some GREAT non conference games. UK plays something like 5 of the top 10 teams.

Do they still have 15 minute commercial breaks, with no way to fast forward? I tried to watch a LSU game earlier this, after the game was over. Originally was on SECn. It was like 5 hours long if I had been able to watch it all. And could not FF. Checked other games, on and off SECn, and only the games that originally been on SECn were like that.

not sure about your experience but yes you can fast forward. you can still go watch the lsu/morehouse game right now if you want.

I'm not sure having Bama on TV is a good thing. We could at least lie to recruits and tell them we are pretty good if nobody sees the games.

Baseball will be huge for SECN as well. That is a big advantage this network has over, say, the B1G network. Very good baseball. If they can monetize it, all the better.

A question for bama/aubbie's who have followed Finebaum for yrs: what is his radio program like in the football offseason? 4 hrs is a lot of time to devote to basketball. Does he cover recruiting much?

No, it doesn't make sense.

Brighthouse is actually a pretty big provider (wiki says 10th in the country). They were part of Time Warner but split a few years ago.

They're huge in central Florida. They're also in Birmingham and unfortunately for me, the only cable provider in the county immediately north of Montgomery.
