I'm sure a lot of the players have thought about it but but the "revenge" factor goes out the window after the coin toss. Lots of new faces on both teams. Now the crowd will be jacked up for sure, but both teams will be focused on the game and nothing more.

Bama is looking for revenge on our regular season loss last year. It kept us from having a perfect season and winning an SECCG. I know we got revenge on 1-9 but there is still a stinge on the season for lossing the reg season game. This team wants to 'restore order" to the point of no doubts. To put the well 1-9 was a fluke, LSU was flat, not interested since they beat us in the reg season, Bama shouldn't have been there, and etc.. ALL of that still pisses this team off and motivates them even moreso, Bama will Dominate! Saban has a very good track record of Dominating in reg season Revenge games!

The last two years you guys beat FL where they attempted "revenge " they were terrible those years....lost maybe 10 games? Not for sure on that. Anyway....still not the same in my opinion. And they never lost to you in the NCG.
they lost all those games because Bama broke their quarterbacks.

The revenge factor should concern Bama fans attending the game.

Are they going to get revenge on Les for not putting in Jarrett Lee and having an awful offensive strategy? That's what most LSU fans were blaming the loss on if I recall

Even Saban said in a press conference after 1/9 that this team was putting the pain of the last two losses to us into every hit during that game. At work, so I can't find the link... Anyone else remember that?

As far as the "restoring order" poster....you are a fool if you don't think revenge was on Bama's mind after two straight losses to LSU.

Revenge was the biggest factor in that game. In fact, it's probably been the biggest factor the last four times these teams have played. Talent is equal on both sides. Football is an emotional game and many times it is a deciding factor on who plays best and wins the game.

Not at all. For example, you'd think UT would have that revenge mentality after the last 6 wins over them or whatever...

I think it plays a small factor in all of this. When the game settles in and it feels like just another game and you're looking at the scoreboard from the field that revenge does almost nothing.

Maybe in the first few snaps when the adrenaline is running... perhaps it'll flow a little longer... let's say a snap or two.

LSU concerns me. Revenge factor by itself is not so much, although sometimes a very good team can use that as motivation to work harder and prepare more intensely.

We are playing a legitimate top 10 team that has been more battle tested than we have, in their home stadium. That should be a concern for anyone who is honest with themselves. Saban knows this and I believe he and his staff will have us as ready as we can be. I also believe we are the better team and should win if we play our best. But anyone who just assumes we'll walk out of Baton Rouge with a win is either kidding himself or hasn't watched much football.

Miles and the LSU players knew Bama was the better team last November. They thought they had an easy road to the Natty after that. Little did they know....

I'm pretty sure none of our players were thinking about what happened in 2010.

“If there was anything I would say about last year's game,” Saban said, “I think there is such a thing as almost being too ramped up for a game."

“We've been in a lot of situations where people tend to hype everything up,” senior left guard Chance Warmack said. “We try to keep a level head with everything. We look at it like another game, another opportunity to get better, another team to look up on and look at what they do.

Lester “You can’t let your emotions take over the game because you’ll make a lot of emotional mistakes.”
quote:

“We don't go out and play on emotions or get too hyped up,” junior running back Eddie Lacy said. “We just go out and it's a business. It's a business trip, it's a business game so hype and emotion doesn't play into what we do.”

So, embrace the big-game atmosphere, but don’t embrace it too much?

Outside of last year’s LSU game, that’s typically what Alabama has done in recent years. And the Crimson Tide nearly beat the Tigers when it admittedly pumped itself up too much for “The Game of the Century.”

I'm tellin' ya, having an off week for a big game is not good for Bama's mojo.

You are putting words in Saban's mouth. He said he preaches to all of his players to be mentally tough and "bury the pain" on every play. He said he gets irritated at times with some of his players that don't practice like he wants them to - they have aches and pains in practice and don't give it their all in practice and they may try to ease up at times during practice because of soreness/aches, etc. "But, when they get on the field and the ball is on the ground, those boys COME TO PLAY."

He said, "they buried their pain" in that LSU game and it showed in their execution.

I don't remember the word revenge ever being used for those last 2 years

Our players may not have used the word "revenge" at Bama, but remember "Never Forget"? We were definitely looking for revenge against Auburn for the 2010 Iron Bowl comeback. It's pretty silly to believe Bama wasn't out for revenge against LSU in the BCS title game last year as well.

why should it?

LSU is starting 5 players this game that started the 2 games last year

Bama is starting 12 players this game that started the 2 last year

so I don't really get the revenge thing....won't change anything about the past....

This team will play for this season IMO as it should be

Revenge could have played a part in that game. But I think they wanted to prove they were the best team in the country. They had been ridiculed, and shite on by some media members and college football fans for making it to the BSCNC game. Many folks in the nation felt Bama didn't deserve to be in the game. That team wanted more than anything to prove that not only did they belong in the title game, they wanted to remove ALL doubt about who was the best when that game was over.
