A rational fan. How the frick are ya'll so bad on defense? Recruiting is lights out it seems. Are ya'll only recruiting offense?

you can recurit 8* players all day but if you dont coach them correctly, they will not perform.

Our coaching from Chizik to Roof to the position coaches is failing on defense. It was there last year and in 2009 but it is being highlighted now.

I do not know what is going on as far as who is in control but its not youth, depth or experience. DB's wont turn their heads around, wrong angles, missed tackling. Same as last year and th e year before. They will need to change the defense totally is they want us to survive.

I was on the lack of depth bandwagon in 2009. It was certainly a big part of why we lost most of our games. But last year and this year, its coaching and it easy to see.

Jonathan Rose didn't even travel to the game yesterday. I question whoever is coaching that secondary. Lolley and Thigpen have been given highly touted players, and none are doing anything. I wish they would at least play the ball in the air, and not just let them catch it only to try to tackle them. Just pathetic. I bet, even if we had gotten Roberson, he wouldn't even be playing due to our pathetic coaching.

He had like 10 pass interference calls yesterday. He is good and will be better but he would not help much if he was coached to play 15 yards off the ball.

I will take this over getting burned and missing tackles.

I asked about this a couple days ago, don't think I got an answer. Why do they do this, I assume they are instructed to play this way. What is the reasoning from a coaching point?

No clue - but him, Big Sexy, Jonathan Evans, and Jawara White all stayed in Auburn...

yes, he was playing the ball and playing man to man. I also will take that over what we have anyday. But he was playing that way because he was coached to do so.

But he was also man to man on Da'Rick Rogers alot. Not something a true freshman usually gets assigned to do. If it were one of our DBs defending him, they wouldn't even be close enough to interfere

Exactly the same as last year and 2009. Its why Thorpe was moved to Safety. Wont turn his head around. Bell is the only corner we have that will play the ball at times.

Kind of funny, they've been doing it since 2009 when Roof got here... Even then, Walter McFadden was the only one that would play the ball in the air. He was later drafted by the Raiders.

Agree. We are playing the sit back and hope something happens defense.

I'm wondering if we are hanging on to Thig and Lolley for recruiting purposes. They are two of our most underrated recruiters but dang, if they can't teach the kids anything then let them go.

IF we are, its on the Chiz... He must make the call. I like Chiz. But he must make the right call.

I have always assumed that is what they are told to do, for whatever reason. I just never knew the logic behind playing that way.

The whole defensive staff needs to be let go. That's how I look at it.

I'm at the point to where I want Malzahn as HC, and Chizik as DC. I know it won't work, but that's how I want it. If we were to lose Malzahn at the end of the season, we would fall into shite (assuming we keep Ted Roof and the same horrible defense).
