A&M has finished ranked in the AP Poll 28 times

Top 25 - 28 times
Top 10 - 12 times
Top 5 - 4 times

Texas has finished ranked in the AP Poll 50 times

Top 25 - 50 times
Top 10 - 27 times
Top 5 - 18 times

Total times both have finished ranked in the same AP poll

Top 25 - 13
Top 10 - 1 (1941)
Top 5 - Never

Number of times both teams were ranked when the game was played: 10

In summary: Both teams cannot be good in the same year. For one to do well, the other has to fail.

Anger easily makes you retarded.

All of them distant memories but not nearly as distant as when A&M won something.

Exactly.

Saints won in 2010.

Aggie ain’t sniffed a conference champ since Tennessee won the title.

Lobotomy is hilarious too.
Aggie jokes obviously get written by Aggie posters.

It would also be fun for you to do OU vs Texas and tell us why that rivalry is a big one.

Then use same methodology for the OU/Aggy rivalry.

Then Search for “lowest” common denominator.

It would be better and "more fun" if I told you to frick off and do it yourself since I don't owe you a fricking thing.

Sounds like our resident dork wants to find ways to answer how no one cares about aggy rivalries.

Dstone12 has to mansplain by suggesting we find the lowest common denominator.

It's aggy. Nationally relevant rivalries usually have TWO significant programs, you dumbass. That's why:

Tx v OU is a rivalry of relevance
Tx v aggy NOT a significant rivalry as you said.
Ou v aggy NOT a significant rivalry
LSU v aggy NOT a significant rivalry.......but you tried

No matter how hard you try on this forum, your program ain't shite, son.

FIFM

To all the Aggies on this board. I am just breaking balls. My son's godfather is an Aggie. He's like a unicorn aka a decent person.

But 95% of you guys do suck.

It's a nice rivalry game
Both teams have a shot at goodness to keep it a good game for a Thanksgiving time game year in year out.
Go ags

As a football fan and a fan of tradition I’m glad this game is back on. Realignment has killed so many good rivalries. I will be cheering for A&M because the Texas fans are horrible.

Nice job OP of presenting statistical data to the discussion. Unfortunately most of the insufferable smooth brains here at SECRant can’t discuss anything without pure shite talk. They must sit around staring at clocks.

It's funny. I read the title and the first thing that popped into my head was that it seemed like Texas and Texas A&M never seemed to have vintage teams in the same season.

Then I read the OP and obviously that was exactly what it was about.

That hurts the game some in terms of the national focus.

But I also think the Thanksgiving day tradition actually hurt it a bit nationally as people aren't as focused on football that evening as they are on a regular Saturday.

I think the Thanksgiving day schedule for both it and the Egg Bowl also limits the type of hijinks you see from the students and crowds like you might otherwise get at rivalry games.

It's always been the last game of the year, other than 1969. Same issue with other rivalry games, Alabama-Auburn, Michigan-Ohio State, USC-UCLA, etc. The loser of the last game has a very low probability of finishing in the Top 5, unless they were Top 3 and lost to a Top 5.

There used to be 3 TV games on Thanksgiving; The Cowboys, The Lions and Texas-A&M in prime time. Time honored traditions, like James Bond and Clint Eastwood movies opening in theaters over the holidays.

When A&M was banned from TV, the game wasn't televised and lost the premier time slot in college football.

T+1 and a Saturday game never had the same vibe.

Outside of Texas nobody knows Aggy except they are a cult and don’t have the women cheerleaders
