The real issue at LSU is simple, and it may not be Les' fault

I'm going to preface this by saying despite my normal tendencies on this forum, this is in no way, shape, or form a troll towards LSU in any way. This is simply by perception of LSU over the years as a neutral fan.

Now to my point, I will use Brandon Allen as an example. Brandon Allen, for those that remember, was a god-awful QB when he stepped on campus. He was a god-awful starter two years ago. He was a mediocre QB that had issues in clutch time a year ago. This year he's arguably been one of the best QB's in Arkansas Razorbacks history. How does this relate to LSU at all? QB development.

LSU has become notorious for below-par QB play and it's been that way for the better part of a decade. With Mett and his raw talent being the outlier. It doesn't matter how many years they start, how long they play, what their star rating was as a recruit. LSU has completely failed to develop a QB on campus. There have been multiple years where I thought LSU would have been hoisting the crystal ball if they even had an average QB. But the reality is they aren't, and haven't been. LSU can't even manage to develop an average QB with the vast array of talent they recruit year in and year out. THAT is the problem with LSU. Not the offensively philosophy, not the time management, not the coaching antics, not the team giving up. It's the fact that for nearly a decade the person who touches the ball on nearly every offensive play for LSU is arguably the worst player on the offense.

Does this still fall on Les? Does LSU even have a QB coach? These are legitimate questions as I don't know much about the LSU coaching staff. This very well may be on Les, and if so, I'd want him canned if I were a Tiger fan.

Inconsistent offensive line play (the position Les played and coached) has been a big problem as well. La'el would have been the ONLY first round o-lineman produced by Les. That is horrible.

Les Miles hired the best man in his wedding, who's been fired from multiple jobs, although known to coach up qb's, to lead the offense.

Bob Stoops goes and gets Lincoln Riley
Nick Saban goes and gets Lane Kiffin
Dabo goes and gets Chad Morris
shite, even Bert goes out and gets Dan Enos.

Meanwhile, Les is buying bffl rings with his friends.

I love Les and hate that it's come to this, but he's made some insanely idiotic hires for DC, OC, and ST.

Long story short, Cam Cameron was supposed to be our qb coach savior

A good QB coach always has good quarterbacks. Some said that Chaney was a good QB coach, but Allen never improved much. Fast forward a year and he's improved greatly under Enos' tutelage. You never see a Bobby Petrino team without a good QB, because he knows how to develop them.

I actually think QB production in college football is more of a function of the QB coach and play-calling, then the talent of the QB. That may not be true with QB's that don't pass much, but I think it is for pro-style QB's.

So, your saying a QB that spends 4 years in a system is going to get better? What a revelation! Why has no one thought of this before?!?!

LSU has had 4 senior QBs under Les Miles.

Matt Flynn
Jordan Jefferson
Jarrett Lee
Zach Mettenberger

3 of the 4 improved greatly from year to year.

And Mett is the only QB on that list that you could even mention in a "top 3 QB in the SEC" for that year and not get laughed at.

Yes, the vast majority of players should improve. But it is the rate of improvement that is important.

Also, not all QBs improve over time. See the qb killah Houston nutt for reference

Getting a lot of downvotes and zero counter-arguments. Now I see why no one wants to be civil with the LSU fanbase.
