WTF is a rape kit and why does it take this long to show negative? Sucks if he didn't do it for him to be under the cloud of suspicion for this long.

DNA collection and testing. As to why... that's a good question. The usual reason is that there's a backlog for DNA testing in many states but it seems to have taken an inordinately long time in this case, especially since VP hasn't actually been charged.
This whole case though has been weird from the beginning where the initial report was broken online by a frat guy who claimed to be the designated driver when he and his frat bros spotted a girl outside a building and according to that poster his frat bros sprang into action.

Having been around so many football players, I tend to believe the female. A major college organized a cover-up a gang rape of a girl and assault and battery of a guy who tried to break it up in the late 90's. The mom of the guy kept the books at a local grocery store. They paid her so much, she retired. No telling how much they paid the family of the girl.
Edit: I am not saying Von Pearson is guilty or anything nor is my commentary in regards to his case, just the subject since it was brought up.

I still don't know what a "negative rape kit" means or proves. Does it prove their was no contact whatsoever between the two? Or does it mean Von didn't leave a mess behind?

My understanding is that the DNA didn't match if a rape kit is "negative". I believe they take samples from the entire private area and compare them to suspects. Doesn't mean she wasn't raped, per se, but that they have no proof of who.
I could be completely wrong on this, though.

It's always a rewarding feeling to pass a rape test. Congrats to this young man. Very high nonraping aptitude and a bright future of consensual encounters.
