the perception that the sec is down this year...

Doesn't seem supported by bowl season. And we will at least have the natty runner up if not the overall champ.
I think the perception is due in large part to SC, AU, and Mizzou not living up to expectations. Plus very few 10 win teams.
In the very recent past we've had as many as 4 eleven win+ teams.
This year we had 2 teams with at least 10 wins heading into the bowls. One of those was Florida.
Say what you want, 10 win seasons still matter (ask Les Miles).
Don't you think the reality is that we've become stronger top to bottom? So many teams with lots of wins as in the past says we're top heavy. This year suggests there really are no easy outs in the Sec.

The SEC is down any time Bama wins the conference

Maybe. Either that or teams were inconsistent- really good one week not so much the next.

The East was still god awful. Florida had the East locked up by late October. And Florida was not a good team at all. Michigan completely destroyed them.

Bowl matchups were awful this year. Northwestern/UF and Tenn/Michigan to me would have been much more evenly matched games, and you could have made that happen. Those were blowouts one for the SEC and one for the B1G. OSU screwed the pooch so MSU got embarrassed

Yeah, even Auburn beat memphis.

Still need a coachless UGA team to eek out a win and Arkansas to win theirs before you start show boating the conference again. We knew offense-less UF would lose to Michigan, but the way their defense didnt show up was pretty sad. Michigan has a great coach though and will soon be the best program in the Mediocre 10.

Probably, but Bama shut out a playoff team.
