Not really. I know this thought is perpetuated here but it's simply not accurate. Usually said by fans to make themselves feel better about finishing poorly because the division is so "strong".

Spoken like a Missouri fan.

Everyone says that because a) there is no obviously outstanding team this year and b) there are a lot of very good teams. The SEC-W has been a toss-up between several teams, many times since 2010, but this may be the first where every team seems to have a legit shot.

In 2010, Alabama was the defending national champs and preseason favorite to repeat, but they finished 3rd and 4 SEC-W teams finished with 10+ wins. You just haven't been around long enough to know better.

Alabama actually finished 4th in the division in 2010.

No, there are a couple really good potentially great teams and a handful of pretty good teams.

The season will play out that way and all the noise this offseason will be just that.

I do enjoy the move from we'll never compete in the SEC to getting dogged on for not getting to the championship game by year 3.

Movin' on up.

It was a bad joke on a message board. Take it easy.

A&M can win the SEC but they need to have a change in offensive identity to do it. They have the facilities and recruiting base to do so. Sumlin could even be the guy to do it, but not based on their current philosophy.

You have to run the ball in this conference and do so effectively to reach that goal. I don't feel like going back and looking at every SEC champ over the last 20 years, but I did look into it a while back and every SEC champ finished in the top 5 in the conference in rushing for the last 10 years. Most years they were either #1 or #2 in rushing if I recall right.

A&M's best finish in the SEC was 2012. They finished #2 in rushing in the SEC that year. I don't think it's a coincidence that that year happens to also be the same year they rushed the ball the best.
