Unless the NCAA decides that they want to keep their position as the governing body of college athletics.

I'll confess to trolling on occasion, especially for LSU and Ole Miss fans, who are pretty easy targets. This isn't a troll...this is just factual with my perspective.

If a team that's had past glory, but now finds itself getting pushed around by what has historically been the in state 'little brother' (along with being a routine win for the conference powers) decides they've had enough then what might the power boosters do?

Hire a coach from low mid majors who's a pretty good guy...but kinda naive.
Cheat like hell and go from middle of the pack nationally to top 5 classes overnight...I mean...c'mon...they didn't rebuild Oxford, MS...if you think it was nice, it was nice when you were 45th ranked in recruiting also.
Get caught....a few times.
Weather most of the NCAA's inept 'investigations'.
Get REALLY caught.
Impose sanctions on yourself.

That's about where we sit today. Ole Miss fans might want to spin reasons or take offense to my view of the situation...but the facts are all pretty solid.

So...what happens next?

The NCAA says....good job boys and Ole Miss continues cheating and perhaps winning a lot more than usual.
Everyone else sees that work...and the free for all starts.

OR

The NCAA says....yeah right and triples the penalty, pushing Ole Miss back to where Bama wants them anyway.

You decide what's more likely.

I'm just disappointed this wasn't the pay for play scandal that was promised. I wanted to be put out of my fandom misery.

Exactly Realist, I am also shock that FBI storm troopers haven't swept in and arrested all the guys involved in the Pell Grant Fraud.

My bad Harry Rex....multiple concepts and multi-syllable words. I do know better when trying to talk to folks from MS or AL....and we all know coonasses can't understand English at all.

I'll do better next time.

This is SMU all over again. Win at any cost. If we get caught we go back to being nobody and we're used to that. Nothing to lose. Now, Will ole miss stand down or will they thumb their noses until the NCAA has no other recourse than to shut it down in a few years.
