I can't think of a real close game where Chavis actually stopped a team int he 2 minute drill.

Bama-LSU 2010 ???

ETA: and LSU-Wisconsin 2014 most recently

And how many of those times did we have the ball with very little time left on the clock and failed to pick up a 1st down to seal the W and keep the D off the field?

It's embarassing when opponents fans realize how important Chavis is to our success, while some of our fans actually want him gone. What a joke.

And OP... Good post

Thanks. In how many of LSU's losses dating back to 2009 did the team score more than 24 points? 3 touchdowns and a field goal won't cut it against everybody, and in some losses LSU scored less than that.

Well, the offense had 450 yards and scored 28 pts.

ND offense had a TOP of 37 minutes to LSU'S 23.

So, is it the O's fault or the D's fault or is it both? Or was it the fake that failed and cost 3 points, the exact amount lsu lost by?

LSU's stats are heavily skewed by the 75 yard pass and 89 yard touchdown. The offense scored 21. LSU had a 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. LSU's touchdown drive late in the first quarter was their only good one.

It was an all around team loss, but the offense and the people in charge of it deserve most of the blame. One specials teams touchdown and two busted plays make the game look closer than it actually was. As unbelievable as it may sound, LSU's defense kept the game respectable. Imagine what the score might have looked like if LSU had Auburn, South Carolina, or Texas A&M's defense.

Spare me that novel about LSU scoring more points. We all know LSU's offense sucks. But in the games you cited, LSU's shitty offense scored enough to win or go to overtime and Chavis' shitty 2 minute defense repeatedly failed. That's on Chavis.

Someone posted that 6 of LSU's last 11 losses occurred on the final drive. That sounds about right.

As someone who's watched LSU for decades, the defense has been a problem the past three years, It's time to do something different.

Just a reminder for everyone: Chavis leaving still does not solve our terrible offensive problems.

I'm not sure why the 'good riddance' train for Chavis is as popular as it is.

it is a huge blow to the program, at least perception wise.

anyone who thinks there isn't more to this than money is nuts. LSU is building a 7 mill dollar gymnastics practice facility. TAF donate 44 million last season alone. it isn't about money.

he's probably just tired of carrying Miles' Little Giant offense. the one year added to his contract being the controversy is a laugh riot.

I just think it's funny he's joining Sumlin for a 400k raise. the aggies are basically saying sumlin is les at best, so they have to spend 1.7 mill to cover his ineptitude. we know the feeling, aggies. having a mediocre coach at the helm locked in his contract is an awful feeling

Or you could argue the defense did enough but the offense did not.

Which do you consider the strength of LSU, the defense or the offense?

I'm sure Saban's secret Aggie ties were behind the offer to Chavis to be DC.

I don't know about Saban, but at the last REC meeting we discussed this with Gene Stallings.
