I'm just not convinced this is true.

And I agree that, from a "normal person" perspective, it makes all the sense in the world to stay where you're comfortable, where you are liked and where you are making tons money.

But high level football coaches typically don't think like we do, which is why the whole "doesn't want a higher profile job" is rarely the case.

I'd rather look at bigger names. If we settle with Mullen then that's ok too

You're winless in Kyle Field. So is Dak Prescott (0-2).

In fact, Mississippi State has given up 81 points in their two appearances in College Station.

Lets talk after the season. I mean, we could talk about your last two trips to Starkville, but like I said before, all time records mean nothing. I would expect a big powerhouse program like Texas A&M to be better than 2-2 than lowly Mittippi State in the last 4 meetings, though.

Me too. That's one of the reasons Sumlin will get fired. We should never lose to Missishitty State

Texas A&M hasn't done shite since Jackie Sherrill coached there, despite all your resources. Slocumb, Francione, Sherman, etc. Sumlin is the best coach you've had in a generation. Your program is a victim of its own fanbase's delusion.

Like I said, if we settle for Mullen then so be it. He has to get the call first though

Nobody wants to be part of your weirdo, gay cult and coach your cow chip football program program. At least not anybody with other options

RC Slocum had an 11 year stretch of finishing ranked in 10 of those years. He once went 5 years without losing a conference game. You could compare RC's tenure at A&M to MSU's entire football history and RC's resume would have more on it.

You mean the same R.C. Slocum that went 123-47-2, won 4 conference titles, had 7 top 15 and 3 top 10 finishes and had unbeaten streaks of 35 and 22 home games?

Slocum did win 5 conference championships. I'd say he's much better than Sumlin.

Sherman may have done better had he be given more time (guy knew talent) but that tsips loss was too much to handle.

Then he'll lose money. Notre Dame is paying Kelly as the 65th highest paid coach right now. LINK

Mullen is getting less by by getting 7-8 wins.

Yea, Kelly is making a lot more than $1.6MM per - try $4.5 to 5MM range when all the additional incentives are added in. We're a private school and don't have to disclose our contracts, but I know for a fact that Kelly is in the top 10 or so of highest-paid coaches, and his buy out was in the $20MM range as of last year.

Slocum was 3-8 in bowl games.

Congrats on stomping Rice and a down Texas team with the best players aggy could buy.

Sherman was done when he was flat out told by Loftin that he needed to hire an offensive coordinator and give up playcalling duties and refused.

That was AFTER the t.u. game.

Why are we being singled out when half the SEC is unhappy with their coach?

You haven't even been in the league long enough to call your own team the bottom-feeder of the league

It wasn't the Texas game that ended him. It was going 25-25 (15-18) w/just one winning season in 4 years (4-8, 6-7, 9-4, 6-6), his refusal to give up playcalling, getting blown out in both bowls by Georgia and LSU, and his open disdain for joining the SEC.

After finishing 9-4 in 2010 and looking like they'd turned the corner with big wins over OU and Nebraska A&M opened 2011 at #8. Sherman then proceeded to finish 6-6 w/complete second half collapses in every single loss. In 4 of those losses A&M led at halftime. Vs KSU they were tied and vs OU down 3.

Ok State (H) - up 20-3 at half, lost 29-30
Arkansas (N) - up 35-17 at half, lost 38-42
Missouri (H) - up 28-17 at half, lost 31-38 in OT
Oklahoma (A) - down 10-13 at half, lost 25-41
KS State (A) - tied 14-14 at half, up 31-21 w/6:38 in 4th, lost 53-50 in 4OT
Texas (H) - up 16-7 at half, up 25-24 w/2:30 left, lost 27-25

There was no way he was going to survive 2011 w/the way things went.

Where is this coming from? I haven't seen too many A&M fans clamoring for Mullen. He's a good coach and doing well at State. It's a good job for him. He wouldn't be on the list of coaches I would like at A&M, though.

Yes, the same RC Slocumb that played Texas and 10 shite games every year, and usually got rolled in the bowl game. The same Slocumb y'all eventually ran off.
