The only National Championship head coach this century who was also the playcaller.

Saban. Nope.
Meyer. Nope.
Pete Carroll. Nope.

Jimbo deserves a raise and Napier should keep calling the offensive plays for Florida. Head coaches these days definitely don't already have too many responsibilities and other shite going on.

Got to be a CEO coach nowadays with all the recruiting, transfers, NIL, donors, etc, and let your coordinators handle things.

Does Billy call plays at Florida? I know Sark still does too at horn. That’s all disappearing.

You either care too much or have way too much time on your hands, either way, sad.

I think a head coach can do both in a G5 type of situation but at the P5 (and especially the top B1G and SEC schools) level, being a head coach has became more of a business management role than actually coaching football.

It's why Ed Orgeron failed miserably.

Napier would've probably been fine in the 90's or early 2000's, but he definitely needs to change his style to succeed in 2023.

It also seems odd that he doesn't hire really reputable assistant coaches (outside of some Louisiana guys), almost like he doesn't have good enough connections. You should be getting those guys at a job like Florida.

I believe this is the first time I have upvoted a Sidewalk take.

Rational, thoughtful.

What did you do with the real SW?
