I just saw that flash over the ESPN ticker during the Army-West Virginia game. I had no idea they had gone that long between victories over a Top 25 team in a bowl game.

Well, they've only been to 23 Bowl games in their entire history, but that is pretty remarkable. They drew some pretty shitty matchups under Dan Mullen.

Miami (OH), Wake Forest, Rice, NC State, etc.

And it was 3-7 team that did it. Thanks 2020!

Interesting, if this had been a normal year Tulsa wouldn’t have even been ranked. I would have thought the ‘99 peach bowl and ‘11 Gator bowl wins were better wins than today.

Our last best chance to pull one off was in 2014. But it was December and Dan was coaching.

Michigan, Iowa, Louisville (Lamar Jackson’s last collegiate loss), northwestern, Georgia tech...all opponents we have played in the current 11 season bowl streak. Took L’s vs northwestern, Iowa, and Ga Tech...all of those looked like mullens most recent loss to Oklahoma. Flat and unprepared

And in all those instances there were stories about Dan flirting with other programs at the end of the season. He checked out and each of those teams paid for it.

Reminds me of the NFL rumors and his half arse effort this week.

Even Dan Mullen couldn't do it at MSU!

Yea the way they do these stats are not only does the team have to be ranked when you beat them, they have to stay ranked after they lose. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tulsa now falls out of the rankings and this streak continues.

1999 Peach Bowl Clemson W 17–7
2000 Independence Bowl Texas A&M W 43–41 OT
2007 Sylvester Croom Liberty Bowl UCF W 10–3
2010 Dan Mullen Gator Bowl Michigan W 52–14
2011 Music City Bowl Wake Forest W 23–17
2012 Gator Bowl Northwestern L 20–34
2013 Liberty Bowl Rice W 44–7
2014 Orange Bowl Georgia Tech L 34–49
2015 Belk Bowl NC State W 51–28
2016 St. Petersburg Bowl Miami (OH) W 17–16
2017 Greg Knox (interim) TaxSlayer Bowl Louisville W 31–27
2018 Joe Moorhead Outback Bowl Iowa L 22–27
2019 Music City Bowl Louisville L 28–38
2020 Mike Leach Armed Forces Bowl Tulsa W 28–26

I will be honest. Considering the 80's and 90's, I am perfectly fine with these results. Glad the Moorhead era is over though.

Bowl games are hard to come by for State. Bowls where playing a ranked team even harder. Victories...well you get the picture.

Man we may need to sit this one out. We've just made our first bowl game in 5 years. They've made one every year the last 11
