Personally, I see the Big 12 as the second best conference in the country. With half of their teams in the Top 25, they have a solid argument. Not to mention, Texas is down. While I appreciate good defense, I love me some offense. As for their non-con schedule, they do play 9 regular season conference games, leaving one less weekend to play a tough team. I wouldn't want to schedule a Top 10 team for non-con either. As I have said before, would you rather be 9-3 with a tough non-con, or be 11-1, with a weak one. I'm taking 11-1 all day.

I abhor those 52-48 games. Ideally, I prefer a 28-24 type slugfest but give me a defensive game anytime over a "basketball on grass" contest. Even though Bama lost, I've watched 9-6 probably a dozen times and consider that game a masterpiece. In the words of Les Miles post-game, it was "big boy football"

It's not only horrible to watch, how can anyone put one of those teams into the playoff. If a team surrenders a shite-ton of points and still wins, it doesn't make them a great team. It means they're great on one side of the ball and fricking awful on the other side.
If an SEC team is scoring 24 points and winning the game with solid defense, it means they have a good defense and usually a clock-controlling offense which at times looks dominant.
Not saying you are wrong, because I for the most part agree, but couldn't you just say the opposite? SEC teams suck at offense, and just because you hold teams to 14 points a game doesn't mean you're a great team?
SEC fans say every other conference sucks. I don't think either Baylor/TCU would win games this year against MSU/Bama/Oregon/OSU etc., but they are being talked up big time, so they will likely get the chance
And was it fine when A&M/Bama scored like 95 points last year?

According to Sagarin, the SEC East is better than the Big 12. That's definitive.
