I really think our staff did not have a good plan going in.
We ran the ball very well yet we continued to try to throw the ball even with Amari Cooper pretty much out with a bad ankle and Norwood was less than full speed with a toe.It was apparent AJ was not on target for most of the night, see the wide open TD he missed early on. Lacy and Yeldon were gashing them and we were handling them up front...
Defensively we were hell bent to blitz and give Mettenberger credit he was making perfect throws. LSU was in max protect packages much of the time negating our blitz and we had bad one on one matchups which again give him credit Mett exploited.
We did much better when we rushed four and late we even sent three and covered, seemed like we got as much pressure as we did with the blitz.
LSU had this game circled ever since the clock went to 0:00 in the BCS game plus had the off week to get ready. At home with a Saturday Night crowd most of which had never had their rabies shots everything lined up for a maximum effort and that is what happened.
It wasn't enough.

Your coach called a fake punt in the national championship against freaking Texas.

I've seen this from a couple of LSU posters. So let me see if I get this right:
LSU out coached Bama but LSU coaches lost the game.

We also called a fake field goal against LSU in the BCS Championship game last year...

Here's the bottom line regarding the coaching...
From a preparation, game plan, follow through standpoint LSU "outcoached" alabama.
From a game management standpoint LSU, more specifically Miles, crapped the bed.
This should come as a surprise to no one. Miles is the worst game manager I've ever seen on a sideline at any level. For years he got away with his complete ineptness but it has come back to bite him a few times here recently.

Tell me something gump a-hole, sense we totally outplayed you just like all of you whined last year you did to us, should we not get a second shot at you in a championship game. Your big time coach was not so big time at your house last year, was he?

Yet Alabama found a way to win the crystal ball.

I can't say that I thought Mett would play that well last night but I knew that sooner or later he was going to break out. He has the tools to be a great QB, but he just hasn't been able to put it all together, until last night. I look for him to have a very good year next year much like AJ is this year.

The best part about last night quote: the gameplan today did not work against our D. It was close because AJ misfired twice -- missed a wide open Amari Cooper for a sure TD and muffed the handoff inside the 10 yd line. Your D had nothing to do with either of those. But your 2 minute D was awesome.
And it was close b/c we missed 2 field goals, went for it on 4th and 1 and didnt get it, onside kick which gave BAMA great field position, and a fake field goal. Shut the frick up!!!!

Rise above - don't be an asshat.
You used to be much, much better than this.

Scoop, I didn't like you when you were in the Tuscaloosa News football forum and I like you even less now.

Nope. Brad Smelley made that call at the line.

We missed a buttload of FG's in TTown last year outgained and outplayed LSU and all we heard was 9-6 9-6
Face facts...your staff and team was ALL IN for this one...even put SECOND on their SEC rings....had two weeks to rest up and get ready, played at home in front of a record crowd of lunatics and played their best game of the season.
You failed.

Uh, don't be obtuse. The coaches put it in the gameplan, and gave Smelley the authority to call it if they got the right look from Texas' alignment to run it. Smelley didn't draw it up in the huddle with bottle caps and twigs.
Hell, the play was there. The ball was just underthrown.
