I'd like for this thread to be an actual conversation rather than the usual LSU/Bama flamefest. So, Bama fans, try to understand that not everyone lives and breathes Bama, and LSU fans, try to keep your loathing and insecurities in check.

Now, we have Milliner at one CB, and he'll be fine. We have Lester at safety, and he'll be fine.

Filling in at the other CB/CB's will be Belue, and Fulton. We've all heard that Belue is doing well. Two years ago, I thought Fulton looked like one of our best DB's in spring, but he hasn't played much since. There has to be some drop off here, at least early on. I expect a few more busted coverages.

The new safety prospects are Vinnie, Clinton-Dix, and Collins. Vinnie seems to be the leader in the clubhouse, but he's not the physical talent the other two are (spare me the rhetoric here and just accept that I'm right). He's solid and knows the system. Clinton-Dix......... I thought he'd gain ground on Vinnie this year as he learned the system, and maybe he has, but I haven't heard much about him out of camp. Hope he's not destined to become a BJ Scott. Collins could be the future, but being so green will likely mean he gets a lot of time on special teams and mop up duty this year. There's not a senior-level Barron ready to step up, so I expect a small drop off here as well.

All in all, they'll still be very good. I just don't think we can match last year's combination of talent and experience.

What say you, Armchair QB's?

I think Safety Robert Lester will be the leader of the group.Belue is a Juco transfer so he's not right out of H.S. I think Clinton-Dix will be on the field in Nickle situations. The youngsters will be gunners on K.O. and Punt coverage. There will be a few blown coverages while they get more experience, but there's no question that Bama has a lot of talent in the secondary.

I hope they are better than Bama's DBs in NCAA 13. I'm getting crushed by everyone's passing game - especially the long ball. Ugh. Um, wrong forum?

Our starting corner opposite of Vinnie. HaHa starting in nikel or dime and Fulton certain to be in the rotation a good bit. I expect Landon to play in a backup role at some point and be a special teamer.

Pretty much spot on, there will be dropoff.

The one thing I'll have to diasgree with is HCD, he isn't in the same ballpark mentally as BJ Scott. Haha knows the defense and will be a major contributor this year. He is a lock to be on the field in nickel and dime packages across from Lester.

Fulton is in the Dre mold, not the fastest guy out there but he will get physical with receivers, I'm not "worried" about our secondary, but I do understand that you probably don't get better by losing 2 first rounders from a unit. Not from the get go anyway

Yeah, I knew I was butchering that, but was too lazy to look it up.

BUT, he's got a good motor and high football IQ. A real throwback player

Okay, he doesn't have the measurables the other two have, but he's a better football player than Clinton-Dix, and if you couldn't pick up on that from just last year and the spring game then you weren't watching the games.

Secondary is definitely the question mark on D.
Hopefully the pass rush will be good this year in order to help out some.

Wish we had some experience backups in case of injury, seems really thin right now. Lowery and Phelon would be nice to have sitting on bench just in case.

Lester is solid, nothing more imo. Milliner is as good a Dre imo. The other CBs will be a wait and see.

Sunseri will be a starter at Bama as long as he is there. Haha will be fine also, I expect he will be high rounder when he leaves.

At this point Lester is more than just "solid" in relation to our defense.

Fulton has played more than people realize. I understand he hasn't been in the game on 3rd and 6 in a tight game, but he has played enough and been around long enough that he isn't going to be shellshocked by anything...remember he was on the same scout team that faced julio jones every day

I have a good idea of about how much he has played. I personally have not seen him play enough in real games to pass judgement. I don't doubt him or any of the new guys but I only judge on what I see on the field, not what I read on the internet.

I haven't heard much about him. If I had to guess, he will be on special teams. Doubt he breaks into the rotation this year, barring injuries.

Not as good as last year obviously. They will be better than the 2010 group though. Lester, Milliner, and Vinnie all have plenty of game experience. Fulton is inexperienced on the field but he has been in the program a while. Whereas pretty much everyone in 2010 was a freshman or sophomore with zero experience.

Thanks, some of the best experience comes from being a special teams warrior.

I'd say you've pretty much nailed it. Although I've heard HaHa still just doesn't get it the way he should, which is a real shame if true.
