“The alliance” that the ACC joined is why we don’t have this in 2023

My God.
Other than maybe Oregon/Missouri, which one of those opening round games does anyone want to see (again)?

That looks like three weekend days of 8+ hours of compelling football, food and booze. Thanks FSU.

Is there a contingency for the Pac12 not existing to reduce the automatic bids for the top 6 ranked conference champions down to the top 5?

They're undefeated. I've been told that matters the most in terms of deserving a playoff bid.

Well, the Alliance only existed because A&M leaked the Texas and OU move way early to try and scuttle it.
Unfortunately, that was also before the CFP committee voted to expand. It went from "Sure lets expand, we all love $$" to "Oh no, the SEC will have too much power in the new planned version we all already agreed upon" in an instant.

This. That would be 3 good games.

If this repeated itself next year, you at the same point. An undefeated conference champ doesn't get a bye. Get down to 4 primary conferences and those winners earn the bye week.
