Wow, that's a new one. Pretty neat. Almost certain that it's illegal, though. Wracking my brain to recall the rule about kicking a loose ball to keep it in play, but I think it's a foul. Just like you can't kick a fumble out of bounds to prevent recovery.

I had no idea that in such a scenario the kick would count.
It's cool it does count. The odds of it happening are so small you'll probably never see that again in 50 years.
