I see so much unjustified entitlement, as expected, from Longhorn fans thinking they’re going to own the SEC. Here’s what I have to say to you: You are entering a world of pain. You are so arrogantly unaware of the horrors ahead, you’ll beg for the days when you got nervous for Kansas State and TCU. The SEC scoffs at your delusion. By November 2024, Austin will have morphed into a grim theater of despair, strewn with blood-stained rainbow flags and mangled bodies with assless chaps still intact. Every weekend, the scoreboard will cruelly depict a tale of defeat after defeat, a vicious portrayal on a canvas of unprecedented suffering. Mark my words, your bright spot of 2024 will be having urinal sword fights with A&M fans in College Station at halftime. The Texas Longhorns will be the sacrificial offering on the altar of SEC brutality.

Yes, they do. They don't want to admit it, but they know.

Shavinhisbush will be in to tell you that they were "2023 SEC champions."

They don't understand the difference between preparing all offseason for one top tier SEC team vs playing 1-3 plus a bunch of talented teams that can upset you any given Saturday.

There's a reason why Texas is sub .500 vs the SEC since the 1970's.

Part of your post is accurate. I keep saying that in the past Texass historically plays 1... maybe 2 teams where they don't have an overwhelming advantage in terms of talent.

OU... which has owned them. A&M which went about .500 over the last 50 years. After OU and A&M, Texass has had a huge talent advantage over the likes of TCU, Kansas, Kansas St, Texas Tech, Iowa St.

Damn near every team on the schedule will have talent and athletes everywhere. Back to back to back physical games. No more playing in front of 40,000 fans on the road.

It's different and they will see how different it is in year 1. Like all teams they will adapt and get used to it.

Texass fans are excited and I don't blame them at all. But it is different in the SEC.

“Texas will never be good in the SEC” is just as delusional as “Texas will own the SEC.”

IMO, Sarkisian makes a better coach while being under the tutelage of a great coach (see Pete Carroll and Nick Saban). He was only mediocre to fair while HC at Washington and USC.

Also, Sarkisian will do okay (but, not great) as long as he doesn't have to meddle with the officiating of a game that alters the outcome --- like he did while HC @USC, resulting in a severe reprimand by the Pac-12. He went 12-6 at USC before getting fired for coming to an athletic function drunk.

He took over a winless Washington program and made them mediocre (an improvement over being winless), going 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, and 8-4 in his five seasons there earning the mocking nickname, "Seven Steve Seven". His success @UW was largely because of the improved talent he was able to bring in.

Sark is very good in recruiting and some say he's good at developing players, too. He was at USC far too short to realize the latter.

Texas, on the other hand, now has some very good talent. They've been bad for so long, their reappearance at being successful is somewhat viewed as a novelty by many, something new that some HS players have been piqued by it. What is he doing with this talent so far? Okay, I guess. The Manning thing is something everyone's wondering about. Too early to tell, imo.

Texas will be competitive. Dominant as in Alabama dominant over the past 10-12 years or Georgia dominant as in the past 3-4 years? I don't think so -- not under Sarkisian.

We know him too well out here @USC. He's a very good coach, but a much better one serving as the #2 guy under the helm of someone like Carroll or Saban or Smart. He can pull occasional upsets like he did while @UW and as he did last season at Texas. But, sustained dominance at a level like Saban, Smart or Carroll? While in the SEC? No, I don't think so.

Texas....this ain't the old Southwest Conference anymore, which you dominated. It certainly ain't the Big 12 which you DID NOT dominate -- a conference you barely competed in!!

Texas....your laurels were earned while you played patty-cake in the Southwest Conference and Big 12 Conference. Well, the SEC doesn't play patty-cake. It's all-out fisticuffs EVERY WEEK the likes you've never experienced in your history.

Welcome to the Fight Club, Moo Moo's.

Wrong! Quit listening to the trolls and trash talkers. Most of us are excited to join this great conference and looking forward to new opponents and restored rivalries. We expect to be competitive in this conference and even hope to win it every once in a while. Hook ‘em.

Please elaborate on this? How many of the last 20 National Championship winners were in the SEC?

Talent is a big part of winning games. Not the only part of course, but a key part of what makes a winning team.

What a significant talent edge gets you is effectively a fudge factor. UGA can afford to play below their talent level against Vandy and still win because of the huge talent edge they have against Vandy. They have less room for that kind of error against Tennessee. They have no room against Bama.

Texas last year had several games where they frankly didn't play very well but still won. Kansas State. Houston. Iowa State. Those teams all had HUGE talent deficits to Texas, so even with poor showings by Texas the Longhorns could ride the talent edge to a win. But every SEC team over than Vandy has a significant talent edge over those teams. 30-50 places in the talent composite. Every SEC team other than Vandy was in the top 32 most talented teams in college football last season.

Yeah, Arkansas wasn't very good, but if you throw out a game like Texas did with K-State against Arkansas, you'll lose. You won't win an OT game like you did against KSU.

A&M has run into this. This is why A&M can beat Bama or LSU when they perform up to their talent, but still finish at 8-4 or worse, because they have other games they don't play to their talent level and their opponents are talented enough to make them pay for it.

Now I don't expect Texas or OU to be as Jekyll and Hyde as A&M. That seems to be part of their DNA. But it's also extremely hard to be like Bama under Saban or UGA under Smart where they coach their teams to be consistent enough that they rarely perform enough below their talent to lose regular season games other than matchups against other top teams.

That's not something OU or Texas has had to do up to now. They can be up for good opponents and even if they play very poorly against their lesser opponents they can still talent their way to a win. The only team in the SEC you can really do that with is Vandy.

First off, ignore the trolls. No graduate of the University of Texas thinks we will steamroll the SEC.

I have tremendous respect for UGA and Bama. LSU, Mizzou and Ole Miss would be tough games for anyone this season.

However, Kansas State (referenced in your post) would beat the majority of SEC teams this coming season. Most of the SEC is like most of the Big 12 - crap.
