Since the announcement, I decided to rewatch the 2009 BCS game. From the beginning Texas had all the momentum. Saban was even chucking fake punt passes for interceptions from his own redzone before the injury. If Colt hadn't gotten hurt, I don't think this dynasty gets off the ground. It was like the 2019 Iron Bowl. Surely Alabama beats Auburn with Tua, but Mac had to sub in with no prep and couldn't manage it. 2009 had much larger stakes, and got us to where we are today. This event altered the trajectory of the entire conference.

Colt didn’t give up 100+ yards rushing to two different RBs and 4 rushing TDs.

hard to limit an offense if you can't hold the ball or score at all.

only took 51 rushing attempts to do that at only a 4.0 average

You counting McElroy’s, who played with broken ribs, sack stats?

Mark Ingram went 22 for 116 and 2 TDs (5.3 ypc)
Trent Richardson went 19 for 109 and 2 TDs (5.7 ypc)

I think if Colt hadn't quit, he'd have thrown 6 pick-6's and we'd probably have won by 140 points.

I guess it's a good thing he quit. It was going to be much worse.

If Colt didn’t get hit late Bama wouldn’t have had the ball that much to rush that many times.

Romo played with broken ribs all the time. Don't give me that shite. If Colt could have physically thrown he'd have done it.

It's actually impossible to rewatch that game and not come back with a lesser opinion of Alabama. Imagine the greatest head coach of all time not being able to put away Garrett Gilbert until the end of the 4th.

And Texas only scored 6 from it, thus erasing all momentum when Alabama scored the first touchdown. That's what Alabama did back then- they used to blow people's leads before the other team even realized it happened.

I suggest you watch some 2011 Alabama games, where we surrendered a touchdown on the opening play to Florida and on the opening drive to Ole Miss but they had maybe 20 more yards the rest of the game.

it was an ok not great rushing performance

4 ypc is pretty pedestrian.

Someone doesn't understand that 4 x 3 = 1st down.

Oof.

Can you get hit late on a sack, standing upright, with the ball still in your hand and no whistle?
