To answer the op's question, no, it's not a rivalry. Both sides have to be competitive in order for that to be the case.

LSU and Texas A&M should have some type of a border war trophy. Preferably one that is better than the Arkansas-Missouri one.

LSU is not our rival. When we moved in, the Welcome Wagon lady left us a folder that clearly states that South Carolina is our rival.
Our contract says our rival must be an institution of higher education.

No, it's grown to LSU vs. Bama, except that roles are switched. It needs to be competitive to be a rivalry.
