Expect it to be a DC who is used to coaching at a school with one of these quick strike offenses like Sumlin runs. Vulnerables would certainly be a likely option, IMO. Especially with Morris having left as well, probably a good time to make a move.

Tigger, link a legitimate post saying we thought Gruden would be our coach. I'd say you're simple, but that'd be a compliment. I would love to get Muschamp but don't have much faith in it happening. We have recruited talent, we just need to get a coordinator who knows what he is doing. Good luck winning anything of significance with your current offensive scheme. At least we're making changes, you're stagnant.

Muss will likely end up at USCe as DC until the Ole Ball Sack hangs 'em up, then take over as HC.
Win/Win for USCe.

Scapegoat. Sumlin has never fielded a good D. Neither has Mike Leach, or any coach that is built around a pussy pretty systems.

Clemson has the #1 ranked defense, statistically, so far this season. Their front seven is almost all seniors. May be no better time than now for Venables to make a move. Although, a rebuilding year against ACC offenses next season may be easier than a rebuilding year at aTm.

That said, Venables and Sumlin did coach together at OU and do have a history together.

Is this the theory that explains why some people think that a better offense will weaken the defense? Maybe back in the 70's this made sense.

Not at all what I was saying. What I was saying is A&M is predicated on a pass first system. A team just isn't going to be inherently physical when that is your philosophy. I never said you had to have a "1970's" approach on offense to strengthen your defense, all I said was you had to be physical i.e. you have to be a balanced physical offense with a strong running game. For example, look at the defenses Florida had under Meyer when they had Tebow. They had a modern offense but it was predicated on being balanced and physical, as well as getting guys into space. Their power RB just happened to be their QB.

Looks like Will Muscamp a big possibility of being their DC .

more importantly that may be the coffin nail that opens up Daylon Mack -5*DT and Malik Jefferson-5*MLB recruiting. Both have been looking hard at LSU and a few other places I am sure!

High profile DC's are going to stop coaching for the HUNH / arena league coaches.

You convinced me. How much does the LSU DC make? How would he like a few million a year?

You clearly follow recruiting of those players very closely.

Or maybe you don't have a clue, as Jefferson has explicitly stated that he did not like Snyder's schemes.

You're even more stupid if you don't think that A&M's 5* recruits haven't known for some time that Snyder was gone. That's why the DC hire is important.

Venables might even give us an outside shot at Ricky DeBerry and Josh Sweat.

Just looked through the top 700 recruiters per 24/7.

Names I saw:

B.J. Anderson (even though he's a shitty OL coach)
David Beatty (even though his WR are weak off the line)
Mark Hagan (even though his LB can't tackle for shite)
Terry Price (even though his DT can't penetrate)
Clarence McKinney (even though he didn't have a single RB break 500 yards)
Terry Joseph (even though his DBs can't cover or tackle)
Jake Spavital (even though he can't call plays to save his life)

Brent Venables (in the top 100)

Names I didn't see:

Mark Snyder
