You will have a more enjoyable trip if you spend your time in Chattanooga. Great town. Knoxville is just an old industrial river town in serious need of rehabilitation.

I don't drink, but Market Square is a solid place before 10 pm. After that, the Old City stays open pretty late. It's < a half mile from Market Square, so an easy walk.

Also, to the OP -- I would start on Market Square and then move to Gay St. And then move to the Old City.
Don't run your mouth like you do on here though or I can guarantee you one of those good old boys that your bound to run into will knock you the frick out like the video of the Alabama fan running his mouth on the Strip.
