Tennessee fans, thoughts on Debord?

OU was a bad stats game but otherwise things have been fine on offense. The one thing that has driven me nuts is that we're not running Dobbs the way we were. I don't know if that ends in the Swamp or not but I got the feeling we've been super-careful with him in the first few games.

Dobbs is average at best passing the ball. He's James Banks 2.0

You asked about Debord, but I'll respond to your post about Dobbs because Debord has only called 3 games 2 of which were against terrible defenses so who really knows..

Dobbs is just not that accurate of a passer tbh. The reason UT fans were so high on him when he came in was because we were used to watching the highly immobile Justin Worley behind an absolutely terrible offensive line. He would just get sacked over and over again, it was frustrating to watch to say the least. Dobbs changed the dynamic with his legs, and we weren't really sacrificing the deep ball threat, because we didn't have the OL to create time to throw deep routes anyway.

Our OL this year (although still weak) seems to be better, and can occasionally buy the time for intermediate-deep routes to develop, but we still have no signs of an improved pass game down the field. IMO this is because it is becoming more evident that the mobility of Dobbs comes at the cost of consistency in terms of accuracy, especially on routes over 15 yards. This has some fans worrying that teams will stack the box and make us beat them over the top, which seems to be tough for Dobbs to do. I think teams are realizing this, due to the Kentucky posters point about them having a lot more game film on him, and that is the reason he looks to have regressed.

Debord has been fine. Our WRs haven't been able to get open in press man, that's on them. Dobbs was never a great passer, but this year he has definitely been taught to be more careful running. It's limited his scrambling and running ability that made him dynamic last year

Yea, but 114 of our 138 points came against a terrible BG defense, and a FCS team. The other 24 came in a 2 OT game against a very lackluster OU defense.

I'm not coming to any conclusions on Debord, I think he's done fine so far and it's early, I'm just saying we do have legit concerns with our passing game that could be exploited by teams like Florida who can stack the box to stop the run, be disruptive against our OL, and force us to beat their very good secondary over the top.

I think Azzani sucks and he seems like a prick.

I haven't heard about him being a prick, but I don't watch any of his media session stuff so maybe you are right. I do think he should be evaluated and let go if we don't get more production out of our receivers. There is just too much depth and talent in that position group for them to not be able to get separation or production.

I really don't know. It's either Dobbs lacks the accuracy to get it to the WR's downfield, or they just aren't winning the one on one battles and getting separation. But I totally agree, North should get some looks deep with his size. Like last year, I felt like every time we threw a go route, it was to Pig Howard our 5'7'' shortest receiver aka the guy who should be coming out of the slot getting the quick and/or underneath stuff with space to make plays lol
