This sucks bc before this I really respected Sheridan as an intellectual thinker with broad knowledge of the game not to mention an excellent journalist

This year we have tons of talent on the team (since spring of 2013 the roster has turned over 66 spots). The trouble with the talent we have now is they're young and obviously replacing both lines is going hurt. Not to mention we still have major depth issues - depth issues so bad that when others bitch about depth it's hilarious in comparison.

So let me get this straight ....youre saying Danny is right and you suck ?

You gonna hire a real coach by then?

Don't start twisting things, Trey. I've seen you say more than once that you think Butch is a good coach.

Ole Miss has played the East champion 4 out of the last 5 years... Nice to finally get those good teams off the schedule and sub in UTk in Oxford... Last time the Vols came down to Mississippi it was a blood bath.

No. However, it's not exactly going to be a cakewalk. We will be better than a lot of people think, especially as the season progresses. We probably won't set the world on fire but we will show progress and talent and the potential for upsets of top ranked teams (I suspect at least one will fall). I also suspect we'll be mediocre in terms of overall W-L result - 6 to 8 wins this year (six is my expectation) but there are a lot of obstacles for us given our schedule.

However, Danny is correct in terms of last year. If you look at last year's stats they were dreadful - not top ten worst but dreadful. But that's also missing a lot of things, including the fact we also played more top 10 teams than anyone and had the toughest schedule in the nation. We set a record last year for most top teams played in several decades cuz we're just lucky that way.

That said, while I set my expectations at 6 because of our circumstances, I also believe we're a wild card. Things could go well for us this year if there are no injuries at key spots and things click sooner rather than later.

This team will likely lose some games but it won't be a suck arse team and yes, there's a difference.

Kinda funny that stat gives both of us hope. I think OM has every advantage going into this game, especially when there's just not enough info. to gauge this team right now, but if you actually think we'll be an easy team to beat this year, you're in trouble. This team is raw but very capable of beating a lot of teams, especially if you overlook them.
