We have plenty of history that goes much further back I just don't see any sense in how a championship won before recruits and players were born has any relevance.

Back in the day, Auburn played Bama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi State every year as our "permanent opponents".
LSU's "permanent opponents" back then were Bama, Florida, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
Funny thing is, I don't remember LSU whining like a bleeding vagina about the scheduling back then.
