One of the 10 things you are required to do before you graduate from Ole Miss is go to Faulkner's grave in the middle of the night and take a whiskey shot and leave the glass on his tomb stone.

Also, there's a hole in the top left corner to the doors of the Lyceum. Not sure if this is true or not but the hole was supposedly caused by a bullet that was shot at James Meredith when he was walking in to enroll at the university.

There are several bullet holes in the Lyceum. Some in the bricks.

The original building on campus, Old Main, burned down in the 1880s. When it's replacement, later named Samford Hall, was built, they put pockets of sand between all the floors.

The idea was, if another fire started, when it would burn through the ceiling of one floor, the sand would fall down and suffocate the fire.

The Physiology building is supposedly haunted by Jack The Ripper at night.

That's quite clever. Would it work?

General Sherman was oneof the first professors at lsu at it's original campus in pineville before the Civil war. After the civil war was over and lsu moved to its existing campus, you supposedly can't find his name anywhere on any building. I think I have seen it though in front of the memorial tower.

Is that a tradition at OM? I'm a big Faulkner fan, and that sounds like a fun thing to do.

The name is a combo location reference/school thing. Rest assured that a sheepskin for the flagship university of the state of Alabama is hanging in the office.

With that said, I'll help out UT. Knoxville is the birthplace of AIDs.

In 1919, the first broadcast of a college football game came from station 5XB (predecessor to today's WTAW) and was relayed from Kyle Field to the old Poli Sci building (it was Electrical Engineering back then) for transmission.
