You forgot to mention his elongated release, takes him 2 seconds to cock that arm back and let it rip. Smh

Lmk what you think about his chances in the vaunted ACC.

When you are down a score on your last chance drive at the end of the game and he hits the TE well short of the sticks... hope the opposing defensive player pulls his shoe off and throws it downfield 20yds for a Delay of Game penalty and live to play another down

His shoe smells so bad that when it comes off during a game opposition are compelled to toss it 10 yards away.

If you give him all day to throw, he is an all-conference level QB. If he is pressured, even slightly, he will be below average, eventually start making every throw off his back foot, and it goes to shite for him eventually. While this is somewhat true of most QB's, the disparity in the level of play between the two situations for him is massive. That said, he is a tough kid who can take a hit. If he were surrounded with a ton of talent and great O-line at say Georgia, he would likely be very successful. He just does not have the talent to make average/good teams better.

This is a pretty good assessment. I’ll only add that the “ton of talent” might be a relative thing based on the quality of competition.

I think he’ll do well at UNC.

Tough but holds the ball too long waiting for his brother to get open. Congrats on getting them!

Tough. Slow release. Does not deal with pressure well.

That’s a very good assessment.

If you get effective pressure he is in trouble. If you give him time he will look like a world beater.

Pretty good decision making but sometimes too slow decisions.

He’s good enough to lose you some games.

I think that’s the difference between anticipating a WR is getting open and getting the ball out vs waiting until the WR is open and zipping it. It will be interesting how Mack Brown coaches him up vs A&M/LSU.

Now on the negative side, if he struggles and Brown gets fired, Max will be 3-0 getting coaches fired. That would be insane to us following him. But he’s great, so I hope he succeeds.

Your team is truly fricked with him at QB if your OL is below average.

He’ll have a good game or two and then he just completely loses everything. He’s decent but he’s not a top qb.

He's a good dude and decent starter. I'll be rooting for him. Don't expect a difference maker, though.

Everyone who mentioned Max needs a great OL is right. If UNC has an above average OL, Max could feast. Average to below average, there better be a QB completion that went on.

He balled out vs Arkansas this year, looked elite. Next game, boom, didn’t have any time to throw. Ate sacks left and right.

He would have been the best QB in the SEC this year had he stayed. Fast feet, very elusive, gets the ball out fast, drops 45 yard dimes on a rope. Congrats. You guys are lucky to have him.
wait, wut? I thought Wiggy was the next greatest ever aggy gunslinger.

Strong
Mentally tough
Agile
Durable
Accurate
Cannon arm
Quick release
Good decision making

These are words I would not use to describe him. But winning 9-10 games in the ACC should make him a Heisman candidate.

the people who upvoted that comment saw the humor in that post. For LSU and A&M fans, that was our Max.

Is this really a question for a sports board?

In all seriousness, from what I've seen of his play I think he's a lot better than he's given credit for. He's not elite but he's not bad.
