Technology and Umpiring

In the MLB they will sometimes show the pitch placement in relation to the strike zone and if it was truly a strike or not. Why can't they use this constantly and just relay that call to the umpire each time? That all but guarantee's a call to be right each time. Likewise, something similar could be developed with fiber optics to tell whether a runner was safe or not. Could also go over into football when the ball crosses the goal line or even a first down marker, it sets some sensor off.
The technology is there, why don't we use this?

At some point, it is just a game.
Should every tee ball leagues have replay?
I actually think replay should be modeled after NFL. The coach has 3 times he can challenge. Scoring plays, turnovers.
Imagine basketball with unlimited replay. Games might take 5 hours.
It's entertainment.

I agree, but it's also big business and if they can eliminate human error and get it right they should.

I agree, but when it comes to the discussion of money then it becomes more than just a game IMO. If it were up to me then college and pros should be using some sort of help as this. This would also speed things up in the form of eliminating some replays.

Replay sucks balls. Bad officiating adds drama to the game. Leave it alone

Good question.
I've always wondered how, despite all of the technology available today, we still have to watch and wait on a couple of old men to bring the chains out and measure for a first down. Seems like we could find an easier way.

I'm against the whole concept. Replay in football is bad enough...it limits the RECs control and lessens the strategic impact Ritter can have.
What good is it to own the SEC office in Birmingham if some snivel you-nosed Georgia Tech grad sits in the replay booth? At least the REC has realized that (finally) and is moving our boy to judge replays. We obviously lost control last year when personal fouls and holding were nOT called at key moments.
Honestly I'm eagerly awaiting Ritter, in the booth. overturning a big call at LSU game this year in Baton Rouge, helping Alabama roll. The resulting entertainment here would last the rest of my lifetime.

Thanks, Tiger. I should have searched before

I'm in favor of using the technology for balls and strikes.
