It's not the popular opinion, but I agree.

Might be a blessing in disguise for Gurley. He doesn't have to risk getting injured the rest of the year and will be the first RB off the board come draft day.

The NCAA and its member schools steal from their top athletes. It's just the way it is.

The Olympic Model needs to implemented. Players should be able to make what they're worth on the open market.

yeah he gets to save his rep and still pull a Clowney. after that whole tired of losing speech it was pretty obvious he was suffering buyers remorse with uga and was getting ready to check out on this season anyway.

These things happen every year. Media loves drama, but this is nothing new. NCAA should consider having the schools take control of autograph process. Star players could sign stuff for the school and receive up to 1000 dollars a month in royalties after deducting the cost of a scholarship. After eligibility ends and a diploma is obtained(yes, earn degree) then the player would receive whatever the customary royalty is for autographed merchandise. If these guys were musicians, they would get royalties for their music.

How much does a college degree from UGA cost? What are the tuition/room & board costs monthly?

Also, name the last time a NFL GM drafted a FB player during draft day, from review of that player's high school film. You can't. Why? Because they don't do it - they review the player's college film when they review that player for the draft.

A college player doesn't just play FB for a free college education. The crappy players do, but not a player like Gurley. The top college players also do it for the quality coaching and development. They do it for the prime-time national television exposure, that thing that pays those universities and the NCAA so much money. A player like Gurley needed every bit of that to place himself in a position to earn a high round draft pick on NFL draft day, whenever he chose to come out for the draft. And earning that high round pick ensures him of getting a multi-million dollar contract. Not anything he did when he was in high school.

Now, those lesser players that aren't good enough to garner consideration at the professional level, they only have the free college degree to fall back on. But they probably weren't the reason that CBS wanted to show their team on Saturday at 3:30 anyways...

Well said. It isnt the NCAA's fault that there is no other viable option for high school seniors to play football.

The rules are in place to keep the integrity of the game. Once some schools are able to basically pay their athletes like professional teams, CFB as we know it is over.
