Speaking Johnny Football, you guys got a QB to break his record in his first game. I thought you were there. What happened? You kicked him to the curb. For what?

Naw, Sumlin is fine.
Fran messed up when he attempted a hostile takeover of all of the Little Debbie outlets in College Station.
Sumlin snacks on yogurt and berries. No conflicts.

Reportedly something happened after that game and the coaches lost the team. We struggled the rest of the season despite having similar or better talent than most people we play. That's all coaching. Or lack thereof.

You can't be the national punchline without a great setup.

When Franchonie was at Alabama, he enjoyed being respected and being admired by a large portion of the fan base and much of the administration.
Tide Fans knew that he had stepped into what was almost surely a difficult circumstance with limited schollys starting to take it's toll on our w/l potential.
Ever heard the term "Hold the Rope!" . This was frans message to Bama Nation. People were begining to see that the man could coach. This thought took hold when he waltzed into Death Valley and proceeded to rub his nut sack on Nick Sabans eyelids. Something like 31 - 0 was the result. Bama finished 10 - 3 as I remember Good enough to win the SECw but on probation so no dice.
Within days of a "Bowl" trip to islands, the team learns the "The Rope" was in fact, a tampoon string. Like a thief in the night he was gone. Aggie threw party after party. Stripperdogs, testicles, cat wombs, free novelty butthole starter kits were the swag of the day. All maner of bodily fluids were exchanged. Fun was had by all. Good times........
The CFB world now knew that had aTm positioned it'self to dominate CFB for several years to come.
aTm had pulled one over on those Hicks from T-Town. As I remember, and I don't, it was gray day and SEVENTY-SEVEN TO ZERO-NADA-LOW happened. The entire State of Texas and the USA as a whole were humiliated. Vagina sludge had infected every household, body fluids became taxable...male yell crew members were allowed to jerk it in public. ScrotieMacBuggerBalls was born.

higher than tied for 3rd in his division either
And when has current coach done this?

Fran was fired for a number of reasons. Most notable was selling info on his players to the highest bidder.

Fran left Bama due to the NCAA problems that where about to hit the program. He was not a great fit either.
He was already coach at Alabama when the penalties were announced days prior to NSD 2002. He ended up looking for a way out when the penalties were worse than anyone at Alabama anticipated. He felt he was lied to when he was hired in December 2000. But he still left the program in December 2002 like the jackass he is.

This isn't true. We have had a lot going against us for a long time.

That isn't why Franchione was fired.

aTm would be crazy to fire Sumlin. The record is not perfect, but the overall direction of the program is the best it has been in decades. aTm is becoming the premier CFB program in Texas with national appeal. It would be stupid to rock that boat just when it is leaving the dock.

If the NFL comes calling next off-season
I think it's safe to say, the NFL isn't coming next off-season. Reality is, aTm's defense will still be shotty. Any new DC that gets in there will need at least 1-2 years to fix that side of the ball. In the meantime, you still have Bama, AU, OM, and LSU still sitting ahead of you in the division. aTm can expect another 8-4 type year next year so don't worry about the NFL, you're good until probably 2017 at least. Who knows, by then, we will be so far removed from JFF that Sumlin may pull a Houston post-Keenum type record and you guys will be happy to let him go.

Did everyone forget this was this was the rebuilding year? Lost six starters on offense. 2nd youngest team in SEC.
