That isn't correct. Alabama has 31 more victories that the ncaa decided they should forfeit or vacate because 1- Antonio Langham signed a napkin in the celebratory aftermath of the national title game vs Miami and 2- Shula's players gave away or sold textbooks to girlfriends, friends, and other students rather than turning them back in. Meanwhile, Auburn lost a few tv games after coaches gave money to the players. Totally arbitrary.

Al Capone was sent to prison for income tax evasion because it was easier to prove than more egregious charges (Ole Miss fans take note). An Auburn fan laughing about unproven charges, though, is a good one. Everybody knows Cam Newton got paid.

edit: The point, anyway, is that Alabama has more victories, on the field, than those numbers indicate. The secondary point is that the ncaa sanctions were and remain arbitrary, as noted by the fact that Auburn lost a few tv games though coaches providing benefits for players is way more serious.
