You won't even have the best receiving corps in the state when you come to Oxford.

Like half the receivers on Ole Miss' roster decommitted from A&M because they were scared of the depth chart.

O Dear Lord. You actually believe this, don't you?

Draft Analyst Mike Detillier seems to think highly of the Tiger receivers.

quote:

Scott: I’ve written that regardless of whether it’s Harris or Jennings I’m expecting improvement at the position if for no other reason than that each has a year of experience under his belt. And of course it helps that LSU returns all of last year’s talented receivers. You agree?

Mike: No question about it. Malachi Dupre has a chance to be special and I truly believe he could be the next A.J. Green, (Georgia and Cincinnati Bengals). Trey Quinn is a terrific route runner and has good hands, and John Diarse and Travin Dural are experienced also. Travin is lightning fast and has worked hard to physically get stronger. He can run those deep routes as well as anyone early in his career. Dural is a 1st round pick talent. Last season at times they were cutting routes off quick or running them too long and it helped in the breakdown of the aerial game. They have experience now and it is going to help both Jennings and Harris.

quote:

Scott: Coach Ball sure has to be pleased with the amount of talent he has to work with. Care to make a prediction as to who will be LSU’s leading receivers this year?

Mike: I am sure he is. LSU is known to be DBU and also the amount of defensive linemen out of LSU has been staggering number-wise, but I have been saying the last three years in a short time LSU will also be known as WRU. The high school kids in Louisiana and the football gifts they have are perfect for the spot.
Travin and Malachi Dupre are the starters and to be honest I think they both end up with about the same amount of catches. Trey Quinn is really a good slot end. John Diarse gives them experience and talent out wide. I can’t wait to watch DJ Chalk as the speed guy and he is the eventual replacement for Dural in 2016. Tyron Johnson is going to see action also. Tyron is very gifted as a receiver with his speed, his quickness and shifty moves and his ability to pull away from defenders. He needs some work on his route running skills and perfecting that, but he’s a very good player. And in time Jazz Ferguson is going to be a really good end for LSU with his size and athletic skills.

With all that talent I would be thrilled to coach that unit.

Meanwhile in College Station...........soft defensive backs going up against soft receivers =

They aren't even used to physical play. They must not even practice with their chin straps buttoned up.

The lack of physicality by the A&M secondary even causes the assistant coaches to have to chip in occasionally.

I think you should be worrying about your own secondary. A&M's defense is the only unit I've ever seen that opposing teams hurry-up 2 minute offence was run based.

LSU, Miami top contenders for title of 'Wide Receiver U'

1. Miami
First-round picks last 15 years: 4
Top three rounds: 7
Total drafted: 11

The skinny: In terms of overall numbers, LSU has had more receivers drafted over the last 15 years than Miami and more picked in the top three rounds, but there is no getting around what the Hurricanes' first-round picks have done in the NFL. Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson need no introduction, and Santana Moss had a productive career as well. The other first-rounder, Phillip Dorsett, will be a rookie this fall.

2. LSU
First-round picks last 15 years: 4
Top three rounds: 10
Total drafted: 14

The skinny: Odell Beckham, Jr., stamps a certain approval on LSU's claim. He's one of the most exciting young players in the NFL. Beckham was a first-round pick last year, as were Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis in 2007, and Michael Clayton in 2004. Jarvis Landry, a second-rounder in 2014, made 84 catches as a Dolphins rookie. Other LSU pros in the span: Devery Henderson, Josh Reed, Brandon LaFell and Rueben Randle.

Hell Florida even made the list but no sight of the Ags. This is so weird.

6. Florida
First-round picks last 15 years: 1
Top three rounds: 6
Total drafted: 11

The skinny: Percy Harvin has proven to be a first-round-caliber athlete in the NFL, if not something of a locker room headache and an injury-prone one at that. But the most productive long-term was Jabar Gaffney, a second-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2002 who enjoyed his best pro season in his 10th year in the league (68 catches with the Redskins in 2011).

LSU has better WRs.

I know many will scoff at this, and I'm not saying they are better than A&M's receivers as all those guys are damn good. But, LSU's WR's are being very undervalued this year.

-Dural
-Diarse
-Dupre
-Quinn
-DJ Chark
-and now Tyron Johnson

All these guys are extremely talented, have more experience this year and will have a better QB throwing to them. All accounts have Harris as ready to go. And yes, I know you need to see it to believe it. I truly hope everyone sells out to the run on us this year....you.will.get.burned. Bleee dat!

I can't wait to see the beauty of the SEC melt

I swear Tennessee and A&M fans LOVE to talk about how big and scary their football players are.

I know all fan bases do this, but seems like these two go above and beyond to give you a back story, an update on the physique, followed shortly by "MONSTER!" or "BEAST!"

I posted this earlier in a Tennessee thread, so I'm just going to copy it here since it applies.

If we were discussing which team HAD the better receivers, then that article might matter.

As it is, we are discussing which team HAS the better receivers today, which makes your WR U article meaningless.

Dear God you LSU fans really are dumb as bricks....
