A group of us are going to Alabama for the first time and would like to know, is our stuff going to be safe overnight and can you stay with your stuff if you so choose?

As long as they’re not a single mother hanging out with a gun-toting thug getting into fights on The Strip at 1am, they should be safe.

Or maybe ask Will McAway. Oh wait. He was murdered in Fayettville 2 weeks ago a few blocks off campus.

I am sure some of the Bama folks can chime in but I thought Bama had reserved area tailgating in the campus area.

Tuscalooser is not an ideal place to leave your stuff unattended. Here’s some interesting information about Tuscaloosa that’s easy to find.

One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 22. Within Alabama, more than 82% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Tuscaloosa.

NeighborhoodScout also noted that Tuscaloosa has one of the highest crime rates in the nation relative to its size:

With a crime rate of 46 per one thousand residents, Tuscaloosa has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities.

Do as you will with the information. No matter what you decide, just be carful and watch your back at all times.

Just Remember it was near the university and stadium where Jamea Harris was murdered. Just because you are near campus, doesn’t always mean you’re safe.

If you don’t have a sister to have sex with or slap around the trailer park, can rent sisters and trailers by the hour in Tuscaloser.

Assuming you guys will be on the quad? Your stuff should be fine. There will be a lot of it out there. You cannot stay overnight.

Someone said they thought all spots were paid/reserved. That’s not accurate. A lot of it is but there is also a fair amount of free, first come first reserved spots.

We will be out there early. RTR.

Crime Rate in Knoxville

Crime Rate in Tuscaloosa

You would think since it is so "easy to find" a Tennessee fan would think to do a little research on Knoxville (ON THE EXACT SAME WEBSITE YOU FOUND TUSCALOOSA INFO) before coming on here to cry about crime in Tuscaloosa.

To sum it up.
Violent Crime rate in Knoxville = 8.28
Violent Crime Rate in Tuscaloosa = 5.46
(and if you don't know, lower is better)

So as you suggested, "do what you will with the information". Maybe if you want to have a break from the violent crime in Knoxville, a trip to Tuscaloosa might be what you are looking for.

Depends on where you are tailgating. If you are on the Quad and you are talking about leaving tent/tables then your stuff should be fine. Obviously you shouldn't leave TVs, alcohol, etc out on a college campus anywhere. That shite would be taken pretty much anywhere.

You are not supposed to stay overnight.

For one I was crying. This wasn’t meant to be a comparison post. The person asked about Tuscaloosa and if it was safe or not. He didn’t ask how it compared to Knoxville or other cities.

It’s funny that you though this was a make fun of Tuscaloosa lost when all I did was simply answer the man’s questions with facts.

There is a Church’s Fried Chicken about 1 1/2 miles east of DCH. Try their parking lot. I don’t see a problem, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ps. Try their 3 piece meal. It’s a great buy.

Tuscaloosa isn’t the small college town it used to be so with that crime goes up but if you are on the quad or close by you should be fine. Most of the quad is reserved but there are spots around the quad that are mostly first come but it starts filling up early.
I don’t tailgate anymore as it got to be too much trouble as I got older so my info may be outdated.
