I wish the TSIO was actually a rivalry, literally.

You literally don't know what "literally" means, do you?

"Best" is too subjective. Definitely has a case. Bear, Saban, Bowden, Woody, Knute, Eddie, there's a bunch. The way titles are done now is different.

Bryant was 108-13-1 from 71-80.
Bryant was 86-10-1 from 73-80.
Pretty good
Also, at one point in 1980 Bryant was 83-8-1, so there's your answer.
Bryant 73-80

I would say yes, but not because of the incredibly close proximity to his other titles, rather, his ability to want to TOTALLY shake things up after an 11-2 season that was a freak play away from another title shot.
Hiring Lane, maneuvering this schedule with Blake Sims at QB, and being able to, at his age, "change his philosophy" to allow for a more fun, relaxed atmopshere, is truly amazing.
He is right, as a product of their success, these kids were incredibly gun-shy because of their fear to become the group that spoils it for everyone. They played tight right through the Arkansas game. Once he let the horses run, we've been a whole new team. The atmosphere in BDS for both Mississippi State and Auburn were fantastic.
However, it's so difficult to judge compared to the Bear. He had no recruiting restrictions, but that also allowed him to make tough calls like kicking Stabler off the team (only to have him come back and get crushed as a scout team punt returner), bench Namath for the Orange Bowl, and basically change offenses before a national title game.
We are damn lucky to have not the one, but probably both of the best head coaches in the history of college football. I will always feel lucky for being a student, and now alumnus during this run.

Saban lost to UAB who is no longer a D1 program.

I think Saban wants to pass Bear's title total, but I say true. If Bama wins the title this year, Saban is the GOAT
If this is true, THEN LETS CONVINCE SABAN HE NEEDS 10 NCs TO PASS THE BEAR

Im going to say what he has done is more impressive. The sport is so much different now than when Bryant was active, so much more parity. In my mind he is better now, but to cement that in history he will need probably 2 more

No but shutting down UAB as revenge for the 2000 loss does

T/F? A Bama NC this year cements Saban as the GOAT CFB coach
He already is. I think he has two more in him, maybe more.

Rare air. He and Bear become partners.

Odd that you quote Patton and cry like a bitch. Just saying.

Coach Bryant lost to Santa Clara in the Orange Bowl in 1949. They no longer have a football program.

Really hard to compare from one era to another.
Even still, Saban by a mile IMO.
College football is much more deep and competitive these days, particularly the SEC.
Saban has won all his titles in about a decade, Bear won his over 25 years.
Probably the best two coaches in college football history, at least both top 5, order them however you like.

4 conference championships in his entire coaching career
4 SEC titles (very likely to soon be 5) in about a decade, in THIS day and age of the SEC? That's worth more than 20 ACC/Big10 whatever titles.
