Was he a better coach for msu than Dan the man? Msu fans are quick to point out the only reason they aren't winning nat titles is because of the tough sec west, crooms had much better success against western division teams than their current fraud of a coaching staff. Crooms brought in more talented players. I think Dan knows a tad bit more about x's and o's since he invented football but he can only draw kids that would otherwise be playing in CUSA or for NAIA schools.

If State was in the East they would be fine. The West has taken it to another level over the past few years. Name 5 teams in all of college football who would have more success than Miss. State if they switched places.

You're asking if the worst coach in our history is as good as Dan Mullen?

I disagree. I think at best they were about the same. Cutcliffe had such an IDGAF attitude out there or at least that's the impression he gave off.

Mullen is a better than Sly because he's a better motivator and has a better offensive plan for his resources. Recruiting is about the same. (nothing special) Mullen success has come at Nutt's expense. But Mullen may be reaching his ceiling.... a more interesting question would be how would Mullen do against Orgeron? The crazy cajun would never have let Mullen get away the "Our State" and "TSUN" b.s.

If OM brings in The Pirate Mike Leach, they'll easily jump MSU and may be able to develop a good sustainable program. Leach would easily out recruit Mullen and he knows a lot more about football.

Mullen can recruit a little, but it's all about momentum. When you have it at state, you have to take advantage or your screwed. I love Mullen, but if he's gonna have much of a future, he has to have a good class this year, and it could possibly be a very good one by state standards. We'll have to wait and see.

I think this is true at both of the Mississippi schools.

again wrong.

If we can agree on a source (Rivals, ESPN, Scout) I'd be happy to look it up.

Wow....how original....another State flame by an Ole Piss supporter.

It is amazing how obsessed Ole Piss people are with Miss State. You had better worry about your bottom standing football team and your so called Coach....Nutt....and get a life.......

very true and momentum at one school has an opposite effect on the other. Mullen may have won some of the Mississippi recruiting battles against Nutt, but for any MS school to be successful, they will have to more than win the state battle for recruits but also find good out of state players. OM does a better job of going out of state. The also can't let LSU and Alabama cherry pick the 4 and 5 stars from the state.

SCar's recent success has a lot to do w/ keeping the best players instate. We used to lose the Boulwares to FSU, Carlos Dunlap to UF, Albert Haynesworth to UT, Steven Davis to Auburn, and countless players like the Geathers and A.J. Green to UGa. Keeping players like Clowney, Gillmore, Lattimore, and Jeffery have had a huge impact.... not only because they're on our team, but just as must that they aren't playing for our opponents.
