Tebow is more decorated and actually better than mccarron.
1. Newton
2. Tebow
3. Manziel
4. Eli

Weird list. I think of a "top qb" as the guys you would most want to build your team around. If I could pick ANY secw QB over that 22 year window my list wouldn't look like that.

1. Newton
2. Manziel
3. Manning
4. Russell
5. McCarron

And I'm hesitant to put AJ at 5. He doesn't do a lot for me but theres nobody else that I can't live without. I considered Mallett for the the arm but he was just such a damn statue. Let a defender get anywhere near nim and he's as good as sacked.

Tebow's not in the West.

That's the reason they did the West instead of doing the East; the East is an easy list.

1) Tebow
2) Whoever was playing QB at the time for Spurrier at Florida (Wuerffel, Grossman, etc)
3) Manning
4) Greene
5) Stafford

Now as to the original post- the McCarron above Cam thing is ridiculous. Its based entirely on team success, it'd be like making a ranking of NFL QBs and putting Big Ben over Peyton because he won more Super Bowls. Hell, let's apply that same metric to Tennessee QB- Tee Martin is the best Vol QB in the 90s since unlike Peyton he could beat Florida and win National Titles.

Cant talk SEC QBs in the last 10 years without including Tebow. Maybe 247 just took stats and did their list, -- only way you could leave Tebow out.
If all they did was add numbers to make the list -- then a chimp could have done that.

I'm a Bama fan, but honestly if Newton is around for more than one season he's got this in the bag. That's the only thing keeping him from being #1.

I don't hold duration against him. He was the best QB in 2010 and broke several SEC records. Dude was absolutely dominant and a physical freak. Deserves to be #1 on the list. If I'm building a team and had to pick one of those guys, he's #1 to me. Manziel is up there but the size sets Cam apart for me.

As much as I hate Tebow, he should be #1 on that list. McCaron and Mallett shouldn't be on it.

Agreed. I'd have Tebow, Wuerffel and Russell on there with JFF and the Cam.

247's fluff pieces are getting ridiculous, but I guess they need content somehow.

I'm not going to read all the rustled jimmies, but with the possible exception of arguing Mallett vs X (Russell, maybe?), this is a pretty solid list of SEC-W in substance, even if we can debate the actual order.

Manziel and Cam are obvious. They both won Heismans and both completely defined their teams. If Cam had stayed, he'd be a clear number 1, and, while Manziel never won any titles, it wasn't because he didn't do his damnedest. He just never had the defense to match his offense.

You seriously can't leave off the only 2-time NC winning QB out of the options, so McCarron stays. And I don't care how much talent he had around him or how much it hurts your feelings, he did his job very well in the process.

And Eli is, well, Eli.

Mallett was very talented, with great measurables, despite his issues, so it's hard to leave him off. But I'd be inclined to replace him with JaMarcus if we're considering their respective college careers.

If its based on college accomplishments:
1. AJ
2. Cam
3. JFF
4. Eli
5. Mallet

If its based on the best player:
1. Cam
2. JFF
3. Eli
4. AJ
5. Mallet
