For the first half of the rivalry, you bet it was.
The two universities couldn't be more dissimilar, historically.

Yea, it doesn't seem like much of a rivalry but I'm sure it matters to the fans of those schools.

I suppose. Considering they dominated the series while my grandpappy was playing kick the can, the overall number doesnt mean that much to me. The record is close to 50/50 since the late 70's i think. But whatever, stats can tell any story you want.

Considering these threads always bring them out, I'm putting the O/U at 40.5

Since 1976, the series is 18-18 I believe. Before then, they murdered us quite a bit. From 1894-1908 (14-1-2); 1940-1974 (31-3-1).

That sucks.
I can't speak to their future OOC sched--I don't keep up w their plans.

But it doesn't, you should try to keep up with college football.........listen to channel 91 in the morning bro.

They play ND, LSU, Cal and USC in the coming years.

Hey, we disagree.
No skin off my nose.
I've been to each of those locales many times.
They're unenjoyable.

ETA: you edited your post; but ND is bar none the worst game experience I've ever had. They'll likely enjoy LSU and USC. But one good game mixed in every 3 years or so doesn't neutralize the shitatstic misery of Lubbock, Waco, and the two Oklahomas and Kansases.

I mean, that sounds pretty terrible, but let's not make it seem like going to College Station is the same thing as going to Athens or Oxford. College Station is like a little nicer version of Waco with slightly better golf courses, a slightly worse looking football stadium, and a Dixie Chicken.

Their schedule sucks? Texas was just voted as having the #1 overall power 5 ooc schedule over next 5 years.

Their OOC is ok for the most part but their conference schedule is weak sauce in the mind of the average Texas fan. I can also tell you right now that the bulk of their fans aren't going to really care about games vs Cal or Maryland.

Their biggest conference game is always in Dallas w/OU which means the attractiveness of their home slate is completely dependent on what OOC is coming to Austin.

Even in when the other Big 12 teams are good, Texas fans just don't care about the bulk of the conference. Texas Tech is probably the second most attractive game to the average Texas fan after OU and they have been mediocre to bad the last several years. They just don't really care about TCU, Baylor, West Virginia, Okie Light, Kansas, KState, or Iowa State.

This is major reason why our move to the SEC was such a big deal. Being in the SEC WEst means we are getting a bunch more interesting conference games than had we stayed in the Big 12. Our fans were pretty much in the same boat with the sips when it came to conference opponents past Texas and OU. Tech was kinda sorta up there but after CU and Nebraska left it was a bunch of meh. We just don't have the connections to the old Big 8 schools and beat Baylor so much that those games simply didn't have the sizzle for Joe Shmoe Aggie.

When was the last time Texas won in Norman?

And what does that have to do with anything. Last time we met the sooners, we waxed them by 4 TDs.

You misquoted the real important part of the article:

quote:

Former Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said in 2013 before retiring that it would be on Texas' terms "when we played again." His replacement, Steve Patterson, said last April that scheduling a nonconference matchup with Texas A&M wasn't at the top of his list.

And we are scared of them?
