Do not want to lose the UF/LSU game. Always one of the best SEC games of the year every year. Huge middle of the year game.

The SEC would never allow that.
The SEC made cross-division rivalries so Tenn-Bama and AU-UGA could play each year. They were then left with two Big 6 programs so it made sense to pair them since the program levels are similar. Which is also why A&M gets South Carolina.
