We decided to identify both the apples and the oranges within the SEC going back to 2012, when both Missouri and Texas A&M migrated from the Big 12.
The usual argument goes something like this: Alabama’s 2016 strength of schedule is a misnomer because the Tide personally handed losses to five of the six SEC West teams, therefore weakening the record of their ’16 opponents.
So let’s look at strength of schedule from another angle: retroactively.
From 2012 through 2015, which teams faced the toughest and easiest SEC schedules?

The top 6 should be thanking Bama for helping their ranking.

Alabama being on their schedule is at least 60 spots automatically.

UGA does have to play Auburn yrly so that certainly does not help.

Pretty silly way to look at it. Teams like Arkansas and Auburn have lost a huge portion of their games and don't have to play themselves. They hurt the W/L of every team they play, while simultaneously benefiting from not having their own sorry asses on their schedule.

Toughest and easiest SEC schedules? Seems practically pointless. Unless you count the SECCG, there are only two variable returnns every single season -- your record in relation to the other SEC teams, and who you face as a non-permanent cross-divisional opponent. Those are the only two factors that really matter because you'll be playing the exact same damned teams every single season except for that one cross-divisional opponent -- of which there have been only four changes since 2012 -- and your own success (or failure) affects the records of your opponents. For instance, it's no coincidence that all 6 of the top 6 teams play Bama every single year.

We won our state championship last November.
It was a nailbiter, but we prevailed against Georgia Southern.
