Good summation of most posters on this board...

Would attendance have increased with an on campus stadium? Had Jimbo Fisher been the coach in 2006?

The projections they are using to say that cutting football makes a big difference assume that they would be building all these facilities (which they won't be) and increasing the football budget (which would be illogical if you are cutting costs to save the program).

And the ONLY reason you care is because of big bad bammer that you hate so bad. If it were a directional school in Tennessee or Georgia, you people wouldn't give a shite and you know it.

I am from Memphis. I don't like the Memphis Tigers at all. I actually hate their basketball program, don't really care about their football program. It loses as much, probably more, than UAB does every year. It's quite pathetic how little support their fan base or athletic department gives them. However, I would not support a move by their BoT to shut down their program. I don't give money to them or show my support because I'm not a Memphis fan, nor did I go to school there. I support them by paying taxes. It's quite simple actually. Actively supporting the program and not supporting a program being shut down are two entirely different things.

Also, we hate you because you destroy landmarks and kill people over football games, mostly.

But I, personally, have never destroyed or killed anything...

I've never even named a child/pet/stuffed animal "Bear" or "Bryant" or any variant.

No, I actually find this all interesting.

I had not realized until yesterday reading on reddit that to BoT prevented UAB from hiring Jimbo, attempting to put a stadium on campus to generate more revenue and interest (and move away from shitty Legion Field), and also even stopped them from receiving private donations.

But of course, a Bama fan would make it about them. I for one can see that this isn't Bama's fault. Saban and the AD could give 2 shits about UAB.

People need to understand all of this. It is wrong for a public university to act to the detriment of the largest city in the state over silly crap like this. I hate that this is a pissing match between supporters and Alabama fans reflexively defending the BOT. It isn't about Alabama. It is about politics and control and the BOT and the lack of accountability. Auburn dealt with the same crap with Lowder. The people wanted things changed, but there is no mechanism for it.
