That said, I don't like the permanent opponent set up because it makes cross-division games so infrequent. For instance LSU will only visit UGA, UT, etc once over a 12+ year period (and visa versa) With 14 teams it feels even more like two subconferences instead of one great conf.

& a 6-1-2 schedule would have let y'all done that 2X in 12 years (as well as host 2X).

Exactly. I said it in another thread, it'll have been 7 years since aTm joined the league before we ever play them. And it'll be 12 years before we play in CS. It'll seriously feel like an OOC game.

Wait for it, wait for it.,,, Billy Gomilla will write her 27th article about how she hates to play Florida every year.

It's mandatory for her.

It takes 6 years to fully rotate through all the other division opponents and 12 years if you factor in both home/away games. Should have gone to 9 games. Would have cut both of those numbers in half.

I have agree with this^

Hopefully they can change their minds in a few years and go to a 9 game schedule.

Either eliminating the stupid permanent opponents or a 9 game schedule would have prevented this bullshite. 3 options and they chose the worst possible one.

6-0-2 does the same thing.

My 3 year old will be a teenager before we get to go back to Athens. This is the stupidest shite I have ever seen. Go to 9 conference games and do away with the dumb azz permanent opponents.

Nobody wanted the 9 game SEC schedule, with the exception of Saban & Jones. Hell, Saban's been calling for a 9 game schedule for a while now and because he was the coach that brought it to the table over a year ago. But because Saban was the one who pushed for it everyon else was automatically against it..... Now we get this crap rotation schedule and folks are asking for a 9 SEC games?????

Actually, a 6-0-2 schedule gives a full rotation in 7.

2014 - AB
2015 - CD
2016 - EF
2017 - GA
2018 - BC
2019 - DE
2020 - FG

If Alleva wasn't such a pussy, he would have voted for the 9 game SEC schedule, like majority of LSU fans wanted. We get alot of shite on this site, but 90% of the people I know wanted the 9 game SEC schedule so that we could visit SEC venues more than once a decade. Permanent opponents should be cancelled and a 9 game schedule put in place. Bama and Auburn can still have their rivalry games with Georgia and Tenn with that format, right?

So in 40 years, if the Chinese still allow SEC football after taking over America, A&M and Mizzou will still have single-digit all-time series against "conference foes". Wow, great plan, Slive.

6-1-2 does it in 6.

2017 - BA (G)
2018 - DC (G)

You can't blame this all on Slive. The schools voted 13-1 to keep the 8 game schedule.

Exactly! Slive doesn't call the shots - it was put to a vote and the majority won. The schools got what they voted for and the fans will have to live with this shite rotation for long time. And people say Saban has Slive in his back pocket, gets everything he wants because the SEC office is in Birmingham, run by Bama graduates and controlled by the REC.......

I do blame slive. I don't believe this is a democracy. He is charged with doing what is best for the conference and he failed. You have member institutions voting in their own self interests rather than what's fair and equitable for the teams and the fans. Basically you're asking welfare teams to vote for entitlement reform and when they predictably don't do it Slive throws his hands up and says he's done all he can do.

When the vast majority vote in one way, that seems equitable for the majority.

WHAT? The vote was 13-1 in favor of keeping an 8 game SEC schedule. How is that not fair an equitable for the majority?

Playing Florida every year has been one of the best things for us (LSU).

I do nt understand the problem here.
