Still trying to understand Auburn's poll movement

Week 2: Win (-12 spots)
Week 3: Loss (-7 spots)
Is a monkey making these polls? Does this sample size mean it's beneficial to Auburn to lose so they drop less?

OT against JSU is worse than losing in BR

Indeed. I'm not arguing that Auburn deserves to stay ranked (i dont think they do) but the OP is pretty dumb.

Very odd. Based on the relatively small drop after LSU destruction it would have made more sense if LSU had shot up into the top 2 or 3.

I don't think we should be ranked either, unless SW just shreds State Saturday

Auburn's pole is flaccid and probably won't move up for a while.

If SW was ready to shred an SEC defense he would have played already this season.

Polls are stupid - Bama and Ole Miss had huge moves that will probably result in being reversed by season's end. Figured Auburn would move pretty big, just because of their previous showings, but everybody acts like they should fold up their tent and call it quits.
LSU rolled in over there last year and pretty much pulled the same shitshow we saw (from Auburn) Saturday, and still gave some teams a fight later down the road.
I wouldn't want to be State this weekend. I think we'll see a good game.

Those movements make sense to people capable of looking beyond just wins and losses and looking at other important factors like quality of opponent and the relative performance of other teams during the week.

1) Auburn's poll position doesn't exist in a vacuum. There are dozens of other teams' results to consider.
2) It's a poll, not one person's ranking. Different voters have different criteria. It's not like the result can be traced to a single train of thought.
