I'm shocked LSU fans say they don't care about an award primarily awarded to QBs - SHOCKED

Sad to see it go, but like others have stated, I haven't cared for the Heisman for a few years now.

When they start to reward defensive players the award I'll start caring more. Suh was probably the closest we'll ever get in our lifetime.

I guess that would depend upon your age...Charles Woodson won it in '97...and Hugh Green came in 2nd back in '80, when George Rogers won it...

I should have been more clear so that's my fault. I'm mainly referring to the new age of CFB and how offense has become to focus in the new "modern day" so to speak. I guess sooner or later there will be one, but I feel that pure defensive players (no special teams involvement or WR duties for defensive backs) won't get another chance to win it.

the icing on the cake was scam newton. character no longer involved in picking the winner.

he and Johnny were kinda "ehhhh ok" picks based on character. Both of them are pretty harmless at the end of the day and seem to be behaving themselves in the league. They both gave gracious speeches at their ceremony

The second i heard Winston open his mouth last year, i said eff it. i don't care anymore.

it lost most of its credibility for me back when espn ran an all out campaign to get charles woodson picked over peyton manning.

this is when it lost all credibility for me as well, although older folks would argue giving it to Paul Hornung over Johnny Majors was more ridiculous. Troy Smith over Darren McFadden in a landslide was absurd. Jason White winning it period. Matt Leinart over Adrian Peterson, the list goes on...

Cooper is a finalist this season and I still don't care. I'll be happy for him if he gets it but it's just like all the other individual trophies given out to players. Good for them, I'm happy when an Alabama player gets one, but as a fan I care about championships.

I haven't cared about the Heisman in years. I'm guessing I'm not alone. You're not. If it actually went to positions other than QB, and the very occasional RB, maybe I would.

I haven't since Stovall got cheated

Like how I still didn't really care about it when TM7 made it?
