The story wasn't that he quit mid season. It was that he quit 2 years prior.

We went from having guys like Jonathan Joseph, Stephon Gilmore, Antonio Allen, Chris Culliver, Devonte Holloman, Devin Taylor, Melvin Ingram and Jadeveon Clowney get drafted to having nobody drafted.

Haven't followed recruiting, but how is Muschamp doing?

I don't think the Gamecocks lost a lot this year. The only names that come to mind are Darius English and Elliott Fry.

Next year, a number of players will be taken off that defense.

We got some key pieces this past year, but losing Hamsah Nasirildeen late to FSU hurt. The problem was Muschamp came into a situation where there was absolutely zero talent to work with. Spurrier, his ingrate son, Deke Adams and Lorenzo Ward should be ashamed at how far and fast our program fell.

I fully expect to be making the same post about Champ's draft in a few years. That AD Ray Tanner is in way over his head is hardly questionable at this point. How he let Steve Spurrier talk him in to hiring Will Muschamp is a mystery. No, more of a nightmare.

Muschamp put that 2016 class together in a month after we were coming off a 3-9 season and a loss to the Citadel. Clemson being in the championship two years in a row obviously hurts things.

Meanwhile those Spurrier classes were during three 11 win seasons and our best stretch in school history. Lots of misses in those classes too.

Boom has done well for what he took on in 2016. We really didn't have much to work with last year and he got them to a bowl.

In over his head? Spurrier didn't talk him into hiring Champ. Both our basketball coaches could have taken jobs elsewhere but stayed because they like working for Tanner.

If this baseball team continues to tank and he doesn't do anything about it then yes he'll take some well deserved heat for that. But there's no reason to hate on Champ at the moment.

No hate for Muschamp. Just no faith that he has what it takes to run an SEC program that was completely sabotaged by the previous staff.
